It was tough this year, but MacT needed to get someone and didn't. At some point we need to overpay to fill holes. Be curious what happens this year with deals to fill holes after swinging and missing at Free agency.
Biggest miss in the NHL this year. December first this 35 year old vet was signed and put up 34pts in 58 games, - Lahey

Craig Anderson has to be the guy in net next year. He's a proven starter who can handle a large workload. Can't afford to risk taking a chance on a backup like Talbot this year. (Unless the Rangers d is coming with him) Anderson will likely be available for cheap because the Sens are cheap and can't/won't want to pay him close to 4 mill to be a cheer leader. |

Yak led the Oilers in shots this season, just edging out Nuge. Imagine what his shot totals would have looked like with a completely Eakinsless season. - freelancer

Anyone know how the draft rankings work with the playoffs?
I heard that unless Pittsburgh makes it to the final 4 we will be picking 16th |

that is indeed correct. Picks 1-26 are based on regular season standings, only teams who make it conference finals move to the 27-30 range.

So here's a question, who's actually looking for a goalie next year? Talbot, Jones, Niemi, Anderson/Lehner, Ward, Ramo, Lindback, Neuvirth Markstrom, Howard, Dubnyk off the top of my head are available or potentially available.
Some are better than others, but really this is a good year to get a cheap option. A guy like Niemi who's kinda the best of the class might out price himself and find himself scrambling come August for a team. |

Perron trade looks a lot better now. A lot of talk back then was how it was going to be damn near like a 2nd.
I still prefer the player in Perron, but a 16th overall pick will have some pretty good value at the draft. |

Markstrom and Howard. Gotta keep trying backups for the next 5 years till Brossoit is ready. |

I like Klink, but really he was a throw in that was probably going on waivers if we didn't take him. It worked out well but I'm only getting half a chub over a 4th liner involved in a deal. |

Personally- I was happy with that trade- Perron needed off the team... and I really like what Klink brings and the 1st rounder is all bonus |

They probably keep the pick though |

Klink has energy and uses his body unlike many 3/4th liners we have had in the past... Further he seems like an ideal utility player in case of injuries... Pitlick, and others have work to do... |

Please God no... I hope we sign a vet that can still start for a couple seasons- the others in Lahey's list could be great for backup and hopefully an upgrade on what we had the last 2 seasons... Minnie- is not likely going to re-sign Dubey as they have Backstrom to bigger dollars and Kuemper waiting to take the reigns so- not sure where he ends up but its likely not with us either... |

Hes an asset, waiver, could be traded for a low draft pick if a team is in injury troubles. Not the worst kind of guy to have on yoru team |

In Buffalo's case they might look at our goalies to get yet another good pick. Even SJ who knows what they do. Did they ever figure out that TV deal? Maybe they look at a rebuild. Showing Marleau and Thornton a tandem of crap goalies might be the way to get those guys to waive their NMC.
And in SJ case they have a lot of decent pieces, so you could see them as one of those teams that just steps back for a year only to re-enter as a strong team in 16-17. Could be like the Flyers a few years back when they drafted 2nd then the following year acquired Briere, Hartnell and Timmonen. |

Sarcasm. But knowing oilers logic it might happen. Truthfully I never though Scrivns and Fash woul implode like they did, but then again how much of that is the Defense Core giving the puck on a silver platter to the other team.
Get Rid of: Ferrence and nikitin and replace them with guys that can skate better, take the puck away and actually be able to show up at training camp fit and not 30 pounds overweight. |
