Lol I think every gm shares that sentiment but it won't happen. I can't see them doing more than 20% and that's probably absolute maximum and they expect a good return from that. - Dangles13
for sure, there is no chance anyones gonna be paying dion less than 5 mil a season.
if they retained 1.5 for the duration, I don't think the interested teams would hesitate much at that offer
all coaching fault!!!
switch coaches and still struggle.

i don't really put much for blame on the coaching. I do like Nelson as it seems the players like playing for him more. give the coaching staff an adequate roster before sh!t canning.
scrivens let in 20 of his last 100 shots, i don't think a bad defence can really stop that. get a 50-60 game goalie for scrivens to play behind in a role he'll excel in.
i think macT is a smart man and i always walk away impressed from his press conferences, but I'm not sold on him being the guy that turns this ship around. i think moving from Tambo to MacT isn't necessarily enough movement to suggest that changing mgmt isn't the problem

I don't remember where I saw the article but I was reading something interesting about the Oilers trading from their "core" for a top pairing defender. The article stated that there are generally two reasons a team would move on from a top pairing defender.
1. That player makes too much money and the team needs financial help. The Oilers 6 million dollar kids aren't going to help much there.
2. The player is not actually a top pairing defender and the team is tired of them. Erik Johnson or Tyler Myers come to mind and both would be great additions to the Oilers but that is more of a gamble than a sure thing.

Fine then you can have Tambo back with Prendergast back and see what happens.
