Can we, just for one second, play the Lotto game, Dream a little Dream, and pretend we get McDavid? Just this one time.

Who goes? Who stays?

The obvious response is to trade ROR, but can you survive in the size of the west with the speed of Duchene/McDavid/MacK down the middle?

Or do you resign ROR and think about what you can get for Duchene?

Or do you just LOAD up and trade/bury the dead weight? (Guenin, Holden, Stuart, Caron, Cliche')

And can we sign some D regardless? Beauchemin over Hejda? Sekera over everyone else?

The Dream:

Landy - ROR - MacK
Tangs - Dutchy - Iggy
McGinn - McDavid - McLeod (McProtection)
Hishon - Mitchell - Everyberg

EJ - Beaucheman
Barrie - Sekera
Bigras - Siemans (Figure out what we have)

Pickard

If Edmonton wins the lottery I hope they throw the ball out and have a redo.

I'm sure it was hard going from primary custody of the boys to living apart from the family. Danny was a joy to watch in Philly. Wish him all the best.

Please take McLeod off of my third line. Next you will tell me you want him on the PowerPlay!

Oh wait...

The cap would never work picking up Beaucheman, and Sekera.

With the unfortunate exception of never getting to hoist the silver chalice, Danny Boy has nothing left to prove to anyone, much less himself. He's had an exceptional career that some guys would kill to beef up their resumes and accomplishments with, AND he'll forever be known as one of the most clutch players EVER come playoff time. Some of the goals he's scored in both the regular and postseasons during his time with us have all but melted my face off in awe. I'm sure most of you remember the series against the Devils in 2012 where he inadvertently kicked the puck into the net in ot only to have it rightfully called off. So what does he do then? He shrugs it off and proceeds to blast a one-timer near the blue line right past Marty to win the game for real while the city of Philadelphia and Flyers fans across the world all jumped from their chairs in unison. We lost the series in five, sure. But Briere's performance in game 1 is one of the greatest moments in Flyers history IMHO. And not to mention the sheer class he showed when the Flyers brass decided to buy out his contract. They parted ways on such good terms that they even allowed Danny to do some early training with the Flyers while he wore his Habs practice gear. But its time to come home now bro. Gelatis from Rita's Water Ice for you and your sons on my dime should I ever run into you in South Jersey. We love you!

Briere was a beast for the Flyers for so many years, especially come playoff time. Any success the Flyers had would have never happened without him. Would have loved to let him finish his career in Philly instead of buying him out and signing Vinny. Good luck Danny. I will always proudly wear your jersey for years to come.

3.5%.....
So you're saying there's a chance

IF we won and got the first overall pick, I would explore trade options. Trade down a couple spots and make a deal for some much needed defence. I know, McDave is the next big thing, and he does look incredible, but it's the same story every year. We don't need mcdavid

I agree with this. Trade with Arizona so they can get back in and get their forward. We get some D from them plus Hanifin.

Duchene or ROR go? i think one does and both are great. Can't see Duchene moving, he had an off year but kid is a stud. but ROR is better all round. hmmmmm

dont think either go unless they somehow win the lottery and get McDavid.

It will be Dutch with Mack or ROR down the middle with one of them being converted back to Wing, and my guess its going to be MacK since his game is so suited to the wing with his speed and shot tendencies.

Dion would actually be a decent partner for EJ, but he just makes too much. I would rather the Avs overspend around 7m to keep EJ and give him the money he deserves as a sign of respect. Dion at 5.5m to be the number 3 on the team behind EJ (all around stud) and Barrie (offensive stud) would be about right in order to keep all the forwards intact.

I just dont think the Avs have the pieces to get Dion and not take a step back roster wise or prospect wise

I'd be very careful dealing with Boston or Toronto this off-season. Yes, I think they'll want to blow up their rosters. Yes I think there'll be some solid players available out of those teams. But more importantly, they are looking to 'win' those trades to turn the ship around. Whether it's sucking prospects out of you, or dumping salary, I don't trust either of them.
