Negotiations go bad....we flip ROR for Lucic....wouldn't it look like this?

Lucic - Dutch - Iggy
Lando - Mack - Ginner
Tanguay - Hish - Everberg
Cody - Mitch - Winchester

I'd be very careful dealing with Boston or Toronto this off-season. Yes, I think they'll want to blow up their rosters. Yes I think there'll be some solid players available out of those teams. But more importantly, they are looking to 'win' those trades to turn the ship around. Whether it's sucking prospects out of you, or dumping salary, I don't trust either of them.

Yeah, we suck. Lucic, pastrnak, hamilton and krej should be available for spare parts this summer though.

Subban you can have for free.

I dont think we do any trades with those teams as well. No big blockbusters but smaller minor upgrades in deals that potentiall could see guys like Mitchell, Holden, and that very most Mcginn being moved.

Its not the year to make any big moves. Get ROR and EJ under contract and then figure out the cap sitch after that

But how do you stop Iggy from constantly texting Lucic?

I'll switch my allegiance to the MN Wild if the Avs pick up Lucic.

3.5%.....
So you're saying there's a chance

IF we won and got the first overall pick, I would explore trade options. Trade down a couple spots and make a deal for some much needed defence. I know, McDave is the next big thing, and he does look incredible, but it's the same story every year. We don't need mcdavid

Toronto is now run by smart people. Colorado is run by...I'm not even gonna be optimistic anymore...not smart people.

I'm affraid of any deal at this point.

There's been a couple of bone headed trades or extensions but i'm not sure i'd lose faith in Sakic/Roy that quickly. From drafting Mack to now, this club has taken a giant leap.

It was never all about last year's dream season, it wasn't about this year and it probably won't be about next year either.

To be honest we should be in contention for a playoff spot next year but I think it's the 2016-2017 season that our core would be ready to dominate. Forget about trying to 'make' the playoffs, I want them to build this core into a team that's in Stanley Cup contention game #1-82. Those are two very different things. That's also the point when i'd hope to see our D flipped over from the Holden/Guenin era to something entirely different and using some of our own Draft picks.

Not to say I won't have a serious eye on this off-season. Mainly the ROR situation and our defensive depth chart.

Sorry I just don't see the giant leap, unless you mean backwards.

They drafted Mack, rode the percentages to a division title and then made the team worse. I've gone on repeatedly about how awful last summer was both when it happened and after the fact.

The Avs could have improved this team going into this year...they might not have won the divison, but they damn well would have made the playoffs if they had
a)retained Stastny
b)not traded PAP for Briere
c)not traded for and re-signed Stuart
d)not traded for and re-signed Berra
and then
e)turfed ALL of the dead-weight (cliche, mcleod, bordeleau)
f)given Stefan Elliot a reall chance to play on this team
g)signed a decent bottom pairing d like Tom Gilbert for relative peanuts or signed a better d like Stralman

But no. they drank their own kool-aid, thought they were smarter than everyone else a la 2013 Maple Leafs and figured they'd discovered the magic shooting and save % elixir. Good luck.

Its really frustrating. 3 lottery picks have turned out Duchene, Landeskog, MacKinnon plus we have an elite two way player like ROR...we have two very good D in EJ/Barrie and good goalie in Varly. And yet they surround a very good young core with piles upon piles of absolute poop and employ tactics that guarantee we get pounded night in and night out in shot differential.

I'm actually kind of pissed watching all this go down. The Avs might be the dumbest team in the NHL. (frank).

We did take a run at stralman apparently, but he opted to sign with Tampa with Boyle and Calllahan already there. Which made sense.

Gilbert would have been a save short term fix, and for what he signed for, that would have been a steal for us.

I miss Stastny too but im torn with how that went down...we offered him a 4 year 6.6m deal and then he went with the 7m to play for his hometown...if he signed our deal, would that have meant we couldnt afford ROR? Would ROR take less money than stastny to resign being a 24 year old UFA vs a 28 year old UFA (I think they are quiet equal in regards to overall skill). I think that would have been a dangerous game to play with ROR but who knows.

I am ok with the PAP trade bc we are done with Briere and have more cap room (we did waste it with the Stuart extension). PAP is an ok player, but I dont think we would be winning with him as a Top 6 staple. I think we undersold him in the trade though, he really should have been sent out for a Dman.

We did a lot of moves that backfired on us, but I think there are ways out of it, as long as they start to move in that direction this off season...if they start to look at shedding Berra, Holden, or Stuart contracts in some way, its a positive sign, since we really will have the same team next season.

We have 36 contracts right now and have RFAs to sign in:
Elliott
Hishon
Pickard
Agozzino
Clark
Hamilton
Caron
Vincour
Heard
Aittokallio
Lauridsen

and since we apparently signed martinsen from the German legaue...that puts us at 48 contracts...not a lot of wiggle room to do anything in UFA unless they decide not to resign guys like Caron, Vincour, Heard, Lauridsen (which seems foolish to do).

So signs of Buying out or trading guys non core guys this summer is the only sign that this team is ready to admit they were wrong with what they bought into and are tryign to fix it..if not we will be in for another being out played and out shot season

I know we all equally hate the Wild here but I couldn't be happier with the result last night.

I have a good friend that expects his Blues team to take Stastny and win a cup. I want them bounced in the first round like they always are to ground that franchise a bit and become the modern day San Jose Regular Season Hero Sharks.

Then have Minnesota humiliated by Chicago. That's my dream anyways. I'm so used to seeing Chicago win that I don't even care if they continue to pile it on. Having one team in the division with massive success is easier to take than multiple teams.

Let the Blues, Wild and Jets exit promptly.

I am not happy about this AHL swap. I was hoping for the Cutthroats to be reborn as our new affialate.

5 years in San Antonio is going to be brutal, and since the spurs own the team I dont think we will an option of buying our own franchise to relocate it.
