2nd PP had two corpses at forward most of the year. Playing Umberger in need of surgery when they knew in the offseason he needed it puzzles the heck out of me.

Just out of curiosity, would anyone sign Briere to a 1year, Kimmo type deal? With the UFA market weak and maybe none of the prospects ready to fill a scoring role would it intrigue anyone since we are a cap team and money will be tight again probably.

Raffl - Giroux - Voracek
Briere - Couturier - Schenn
Read - Laughton - Simmonds
Umberger - Bellemare - White

I wouldn't, because Briere never ever had success as anything other than a center. Playing him at wing will only further reduce his already-reduced scoring.

Myself I don't know.

It just seemed like maybe a way to get a more skilled forward since the FA market is weak. Maybe a cheap one year deal. Plus I don't know if we have anyone in the system ready to fill the role. And he could also help the 2nd PP too.

He's too small, and too slow now. That's a bad combo for a guy that plays the kinda style he does. He just gets pushed around now.

I'd rather bring back Forsberg and just have him pass the puck on the PP. Just keep him by the bench, and once you gain the zone, someone push him into the zone and have him go to work.

The Rinaldo - White - Cousins line was essentially the 4th line.
- J35Bacher

Semantics, the point was he didn't give VLC the chance to take Simmonds or Umbergers spot.

That was when I knew it was over.

Then say Simmonds and Umberger.

You used Rinaldo as your example.

As much as it pains me, you are correct.

Not the agreement part....the part when Danny B is a shot player.

He's 37 years old, and he had a great career. He did some really positive things with the Flyers, came when they were at their lowest

But Father Time is undefeated, and Briere was probably done last season in MTL, tbh

I knew it was untenable when Simmonds and Umberger both went out for the season and Berube played Nick Cousins as a center and Rinaldo on 3rd line while leaving VLC at 4th line wing.
- MBFlyerfan

Cousins wasn't on the 3rd line when he was up here. He played 8:55 per game.

I want to see them give Richards a non roster invitee type of tryout after he gets bought out by LA.

I would be very surprised to see any team sign him outright.

I dont think he makes the team, but I would like to see what kind of pride he has, and what kind of effort he would put forth.

Here is your quote:

When that happened, everyone knew this whole situation needed to end.

You insinuate Rinaldo and Cousins took over Umberger and Simmonds rolls when really the Vinny - Bellemare - Vandevelde line was the 3rd line.

White Cousins Rinaldo was a fourth line considering I don't think they played more then 10 minutes. White maybe more since he was on PP

I...really would rather that not happen, mainly because the player I saw looks done, and I think it would be hard for the fanbase to see where he is now

His decline has been steep. It's not just fitness -- he really is in steep decline

Thor almost did. He wrestled with Father Time disguised as an old woman and did pretty well.

I also hear Father Time pays prostitutes extra for that sort of thing.
