Well we don't know when it will be so that's why I said the range of who could be ones to look at is wide open.

Yeah, but isn't the highest it can be like, 25? Or something like that?

I wouldn't be surprised if he went 15-18

It can be the last pick in round 1, it likely depends on when/if they are eliminated.

Detroit winning would be the biggest upset in the first round IMO

That's to remind their own fans when they are still terrible that it's really still their team.

The TB pick could be pretty much anywhere after 20. If they get eliminated, the picks are sorted by a combination of where they lost and regular season finish.

Pick 30 is the Cup winner, 29 goes to the other finalist. 27 & 28 are the teams that lost in the CF. Then playoff losers, with divisional winners being placed last.

If Tampa loses in the first two rounds, the pick could be higher, although their high point total will cause it to dip

The highest the pick for Tampa can be is 22 which would be sweet, but not happening. For that to happen none of the division winners(just happen to be the only 4 teams with more points than the lightening) can make the conference finals. Obviously Tampa can't either. so 27-30 are the conference finalists. 23-26 would be the 4 division winners and 22 would be Tampa.

Somebody mentioned Calgary as a potential landing spot for Grossman. They have a lot of Dmen under contract. Would you do Grossman and 99 for 50?

Thank you for clearing this up. Flyers had an early first round exit that still managed to be a 17th pick overall. I figured Tampa Bay's pick could still be worth this.

Interesting -- Bruins aren't resigning UFAs to be Daniel Paille and Gregory Campbell, according to NBCSportsTalk

Not that the Flyers need a ton of players like that and I think they are maybe on the decline, but I do admire Campbell's grit and Paille's defensive ability
