Truthfully? I only expect them to add a 2/3 LW. That's it
If they aren't really interested in moving picks or young players, I mean, seriously. They aren't going to look much different
I'm not even mad -- I want them to make trades. I desperately wanted them to make trades, and I desperately want them to.
But Hextall keeps saying they won't, and since he didn't make any and he keeps saying he's not moving the currency that makes trades happen, well, what else is there? - AllInForFlyers
There certainly won't be jobs to win in camp if trades aren't made.
I'm with you. |

If you believe that Hextall is running things alone on this club by all means.
I don't think Snider and Holmgren are just there drooling in a corner. - flyer_nutter
I'm sure that they talk, and they give counsel to Hextall. I'm also sure that financial matters have to be approved through Snider. As far as player moves, drafts, trades, etc. Hextall has full control and final say.

He didn't pick this coach. He didn't pick these players. But their communications has continued to preach "he's a Flyer" as though "wanting to win" comes in one mediocre talent and tools package that you just have to live with. There are very few players who reach the NHL who don't want to win or don't have the mentality to compete. Let's identify the players with the most skill, speed, and, to some extent for some portion of the roster, size. Yes, you need to be feisty if you're little, but you sure as hell better be fast and have fabulous hockey instincts too, or you're going to fail no matter how big your heart is. - bodiva88
EXACTLY -- it's not always about the X's and O's. Sometimes, it's about the Jimmys and Joes

Hextall: “If I’m looking back and the goalie had a great year, the coach must’ve done a good job with him, right?” #notatypo
 - PhillySportsGuy
Kind of hard take him at his word. He denied having any involvement in roster decisions despite reporters being withing earshot when he blasted Berube for barely icing one of the kids(can't remember if it was Laughton or Ghost)
I think we're seeing some posturing by Hexy here. He knew the big talking point today would be the coach. All we learned today is that Hexy is supposedly very methodical when it comes to coaches and has a hands off approach when it comes to the roster. After some of the poop Homer and Snider have said and done over the last five years I sort of think this is needed in order to get talent to want to come here. |

I think they can reshuffle the defense a little too. It's just impossible to tell what kind of pieces they can move. |

I think Hextall is very open to tweaking the mix and trading youth for youth. I don't think he's interested in trading youth for older veterans around 30 to win now. If he is presented with a deal for a young but different kind of player to tweak the mix, in exchange for B Schenn, as an example. If he feels it makes the team better, I think he'd have no problem making that trade.

I mean I don't really care when Berube gets fired. I just get nervous because each day that passes makes me thinking he might be coming back.
I didn't hear that story about blasting Berube for not playing one of the kids. |

Just for clarification, what does having a hands off approach to the roster actually mean?

I like to think of Hexy as Frank Underwood.
nothing without his Doug Stamper and Berube is not him. |

I should have said lineup. He denied being a GM that tries to force players on a coach. |

I didn't get that vibe today, though he didn't necessarily mention Schenn extensively, IIRC
And yes: He could certainly make that kind of move
But I honestly felt, after listening to him, that he is inclined to give the roster's youth another season -- doesn't mean he will, or has to
It just sounded like he wasn't dying to change just yet |

I just finished listening to the Press Conference. All I can say is, I really like Hextall. I like the rules he has in place to keep the future going. I like that he won't sacrifice youth and picks for a 29-30 year old for a one year run. That's all great! I believe him too. Some way Brayden Schenn out of here, I don't think he's going anywhere. I think I'd like to find a more suitable play for this team instead of Scott Laughton because I feel he might be more of the same when you look at Couturier and Bellemare but I respect that Hextall wants to give him and others time. With this said, I felt like there was one reporter really putting pressure on Hextall during questions about Lecavalier, Couturier and Berube. I think fans, the media and everyone around Hextall want Berube out. I felt like this guy was pleeding, almost begging to kick Berube out today. |

Wow hextall really?
And if the goalie is having a great year, the goalie coach must be fired?

it's irrelevant how the players feel. like they said about bowman: 'you hated him for 364 days a year and on day 365 you got your ring' or something like that |

It doesn't matter, it's not about if a player was put in a favorable position. It's about the statement that everyone around Hextall wants Berube out.
