it's irrelevant how the players feel. like they said about bowman: 'you hated him for 364 days a year and on day 365 you got your ring' or something like that - hogweed
It's not irrelevant in the context of stating that everyone around Hextall wants Berube out. Which is why what the players thought was offered in rebuttal to that.

It doesn't matter, it's not about if a player was put in a favorable position. It's about the statement that everyone around Hextall wants Berube out. - MJL
ISIS Top 40 has Amac listed as the third most promising prospect in the draft and I saw a mock having him going 4th overall. Thoughts on the rapid riser? |

I'm answering your question accordingly. You responded that a lot of players support Berube but I believe Ryan White was in a favourable position, so why not?
If I'm being fair and I could ask one player how he feels about Berube, I'd ask Brayden Schenn. He's had numerous opportunities to be a difference maker to this team. He's been on the top line and he's been on the fourth line. I wouldn't be surprised if he was benched at some point this season but I also believe that he wasn't used properly for most of the season. |

i meant it should be irrelevant (and irrelephant) how the players feel. i think hitch got canned because he stepped on some feelings and wasn't hoisting the cup |

If Hexy wants to go the soft tank route again this year. No buyouts, keep berube, status quo, etc. I'd be ok with it. |

I don't really care that Berube wasn't fired. It's a long offseason, unfortunately, for the flyers. A lot can happen. I have felt all along that Berube isn't the main issue with the team, but I also don't see him as the answer. If they can't get the guy they want behind the bench, then why not ride berube another year and see what he can do with better players? Assuming they make some upgrades to the roster. Otherwise, you are firing a guy and just putting anyone back there as a stop gap until they find the right guy. I think hextall likely has a strong opinion of the kind of coach he wants and if it isn't berube, and I don't think it is, then it makes no sense to rush into firing him and getting some other guy back there if the right coach isn't available.

Okay so why not? It doesn't matter why, you said everyone around Hextall wants Berube gone. I don't think that's true. Simple as that.

And when they start out next season 2-7-1 and fire Berube after ten games? Because that is what this franchise does. They'll make excuses, like they played well down the stretch or the guys seemed to respond to him late in the season, and it's forgotten next fall when they struggle.
Look at Snider...Hextall says around the TDL that he views it as a couple year plan, Snider last week says (frank) patience... |

And I think the guys who are fine with Berube are the guys getting their way. So why want him gone if everything is working out for the obvious? |

I agree. No point in wasting another year with another guy they have to poop can in a year.
I've also always been more on the "it's the players, not the coach"mentality with sports. Yes I hate some of Berube's comments, especially about Mason, but these players are PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES. If they don't have the drive and determination to give 110% every time they step on to the ice, then they shouldn't be here. Berube shouldn't have to get his team hyped and excited to play Buffalo, they should be ready to go into kill mode and go score 5+ goals on their own. I also understand he runs the system and the lines and puts guys in position to be successful, but the players didn't get to the NHL by bribing Ed Snider. They are NHL quality players (most of them anyway) that should be able to go out and play good hockey. In my opinion that comes down to team leadership. I love G, he's my favorite player since Gagne, but maybe he shouldn't have been given the C a few years ago. Kimmo being lost all season hurt a lot and not having Hartnell probably did too (though I am still a supporter of the trade and love Hexy's long term vision style).
I don't think they are that far away form the playoffs and the way the played against playoff teams this year shows they can play quality hockey so if they get in, who knows, maybe they make a run. Homer really screwed Hextall and his ability to upgrade the roster with these terrible contracts. Imagine being hired to do a job in sales and the guy who are replacing told his clients to F off before he left. It'd be pretty hard to make sales and you'd be in a really bad situation before you were even hired and given a chance to succeed. Hexy needs a few years unfortunately. |

The Coaching Free Agent Pool is pretty deep in it's own right. I'd take my chances with a guy who could be a game changer for this group. |

I'm betting they keep him, put him on a short leash like Laviolette and end up firing him in December. Circle of (frank)ing Life |

Okay, a larger percentage of people want Berube outside of the three or four players who are fine with him being here. Media and fans alike. |

Conversations on here. The Facebook comments section. The reporters asking if and when Berube will be fired, especially the one reporter asking detailed questions on whether or not Berube is good for this team and the detailed questions/argument on how Lecavalier and Couturier were used.
I've seen two people making excuses for this guy. You and Hextall and this is the Gods honest truth. |
