I'm just glad that, if you're a former Norris winner, you are allowed to outright tackle a guy on a partial breakaway in OT of a playoff game. - jmatchett383
I was shocked they didn't call that. I thought it might have been a penalty shot too.
Then they called Seth Jones for tripping when he just whacked the guys stick. |

So now we have a GM looking to really evaluate the team and coaches and make a good decision instead of a knee jerk reaction. We always want patience but when it is exercised we are unhappy with it. I just don't know what people want anymore.

Kind of missed the point. The question was rhetorical to refute the poster basically saying that he was fired. I don't believe he was fired. - MJL
I personally don't think he was fired, but I do feel he was "forced" out. I just don't see him leaving "mutually" and on good terms. I think it came down to something (whatever it was) and Hextall(or other upper management) basically said if you don't like it, there's the door... Not that he was fired, but that he was forced to make a decision one way or the other, and he chose to stand for his position.
Just speculation of course, but it sure seems like it could have been something along those lines... |

I believe he left mutually, but probably not on good terms. I think he was pissed off about something. I also think it was more reese's decision then the teams. Its just speculation on my part though. |

I don't think canning Berube would be a knee jerk reaction, personally. Hextall has had almost two full seasons to evaluate things. He should pretty much have a plan formulated already.
That being said, I won't expect the decision until other teams start finishing up and we see where other coaches stand. I personally wouldn't mind seeing Berube gone, as I think there is better out there, but a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. There's really no reason to fire him now, exposing your hand to other teams and the soon to be available coaches. Wait it out and see what happens. Because maybe, by some stupid and far out chance, every coach stays where they are, and there's no other viable option... then he still has Berube to fall back on. That's fine with me. I'm personally glad he's being patient... I just hope it's for the right reason. |

I don't think people are really concerned with the timing of the firing as much as the thought of Berube coming back next year.
I believe, the longer this goes on, the greater the chances are of Berube coming back |

It's the age of instant information/gratification. I don't mind that the GM hasn't hit the easy button and dumped berube. If he wants more time then it should be given to him. I don't see this as a good ol boy network at all. The way hextall operates is quite different from our past GM's. Lets see what happens

To address the point made previously that the team missed the playoffs 2 out of the last 3 years, so nobody can be criticized. That is hyperbole and simply false. That source might want to recall that I advocated for Laviolette's firing after his last full season here. I've also posted numerous times that I would replace Berube, even though I don't think he is the main issue. I have no problem with some criticism of the coach or the GM, past or present, because when you have a team that has underacheived as this team has, everyone shares in the blame. However what I do have a problem with, is criticizing the coach for pretty much everything, and whatever move he makes. There is a lack of objectivity there, and the majority of it is unfounded. I'm open and available to discuss any of my opinions, and if I disagree with someone, I will address that directly, rather than indirectly. |

To the poster who keeps sending me naked pics of himself via PM, please stop. I am not interested at this point. I thought I made this abundantly clear. You may want to go back and see that I advocated for no naked pics via PM. I have posted numerous times about how I don't appreciate naked pics even though I don't hate them. I do not have a problem with what you do in your personal time, but I do not believe things like this should be shared on a hockey website. It's not so much practicing patience as much as that we don't want Berube back at all, and we feel that the longer it goes without any decision, the more likely it is he returns. |

Could probably bring in the 209th overall pick. |

So then do you want Hextall to follow his plan or just want Berube gone?
