It is something like 2 years I believe. If they are young enough I think they can re-enter the draft, In Schultz's case he played college hockey instead of entering the Ducks organization. After a couple years he was too old to re-enter the draft and the Ducks no longer had his rights. That is the gist of it anyways. Although your first sentence didn't make much sense.
