Yea I'm worried that the Flames might get surprised by the Canuck's pushback in game 2
as long as we can settle it down and keep it close for the first period I think we have a good shot at winning
If we get caught with our pants down and the Canucks pot in 3-4 goals which is what I see might happen then we may just split the first 2 games

If we do pull out the win....I think the pressure builds for the Sedins and possibly Lack and that's when the Canucks fold and get swept
*Here's to hoping!!!* We are the kind of team that when we start believing, the kind of heart and hard work team we are, we could possibly go further into these playoffs like our 03-04 team

Canuck's can't rely on a 1 goal lead with this team. They have a bad habit of sitting back, and watching the game after a lead. Calgary will win this series if they don't start producing more goals.

if they figure out how to get a second shot on a rebound, they'll rack em up.

i don't think monahan was 100% tonight. those top 2 lines cancelled each other out.

To be honest. bouma and/or kassian are the player on either teams that will change things.

I'm happy kass is out. his big body and attitude is not something cgy has a player to deal with at the moment.

Hiller looked awake tonight. I hate to say it, but he's going to be the big factor that will win or lose this series

Ferland looks like he could handle it.

Pretty disgusted with the full strength PK approach at the end of the game. IMO, in any sport, playing not to lose means you deserve to lose. Energy guys were on the ice & they were playing passive zone bullsh!t defense. That isn't championship urgency. Sell the (frank) out and clear the (frank)ing zone.

I know Sbisa and Bieksa are going to get most of the crap on the GWG because of the double screen...

But Kenins and Hansen were Richarding around with the puck right at their own blue line and ended up coughing it up. Instead of getting Sbieksa off the ice, they get pinned in their own zone. That puck has to get out in that situation.

- nucks_94

This is the reason Richardson fills in for Kenins late in games. I'm sure Willie is pissed he didn't follow his own mantra.

A case of being out coached or same old core BS of trying not to lose. WD needs to get that mentality out of their head. No Urgency what so ever.

People on here seem to get pi$sed when you call out the team and specific players after a hard fought game. The fact is its the playoffs and I am more critical of them now than any time of year.

Hiller was the better goalie, but that's not what cost us the game. Our bottom 3 D did. Weber, Sbisa and Bieksa.
- CubanBuffet

Personally I thought Sbisa was one of our better players

-kenins should not have been on the ice that late in the game.
-weber is still garbage
-Vrbata was fumbling the puck all over the place.
Hillier was exceptional

I don't think either team played well. The Flames played 'meh' for 2 periods and had the Nucks capitalized on a couple of opportunities we may have had a different result. Flames shooters found the Canucks logo on Lack's chest more often than not and the Nuck's missed a net presence. Flames looked nervous and the Canucks with the veterans and playoff experience should have rolled the flames to start. It REALLY looked like a feel out game for both clubs and honestly I see the intensity and level of play jump next game.

It'll be garbage, poopty goals that will win games and the series. 3rd and 4th lines will win THIS series IMO...that and whos goalie makes "that" save...

I don't disagree, for the most part Sbisa played a solid physical game, but he and Bieksa had a bad shift at the end of the game. It was the entire team's fault that they were in a position to lose because of one bad shift.

Bieksa/Sbisa/Weber made me nervous every shift they were on the ice last night.

How many times did they get the forwards the puck at the line only to have them (frank) it up

I don't know, I think the only line that really struggled was the "2nd" but that is usually the case. Daniel had 7 scoring chances on 8 shots, generally that is going to result in a couple of goals.

Burrows had 4 on 5 shots, I know teams have said this about Calgary all year but I definitely believe over a 7 game series you can't keep giving up those quality chances and it not come back to bite you.

Unless you think that the Bonino line needed to be protected more......

A couple stand out specifically for me, at one point Lack actually had to jump out of the way as Sbisa passed the puck cross-ice through the crease to Bieksa. Weber had a couple of terrible passes out of the zone and I can't remember if it was Sbisa or Bieksa cutting in front of the net with the puck and a flame on his back.

Hamhuis looked fantastic though, and I think Edler-Tanev were good as well.

I wanted to see an extra shift or two from the Sedins line, also protect the Sbisa/Bieksa pairing from having even a single shift against Monahan's line on home ice. Tanev/Edler and the Sedins should just go head to head with that line since the Canucks don't have a true shutdown line(I know Bonink has sort of played that role this year and Bo has been doing it more lately).

Tanev/Edler need more ice time. Rolling all 4 lines and 3D pairings will benefit the Canucks later if this series goes 6 or 7 games and in round 2 if that happens but it hurts them right now.

I do agree that Hiller won this one for Calgary.

One of sibisa or bieksa has to go this summer they play the same game and (frank) up the same ways.

Sbisa is here to stay and Bieksa has a full NTC so even if he's somehow convinced to waive there's no guarantee that he won't pull a Kesler(except he's not nearly as valuable).

I'm using Jacob Markstrom's goalie fight as a panacea for last night's loss in today's new blog:
