I still think there is absolutely a rivalry. Difference being is that the younger fans dont know what it was like when there truly was one. Neither team has been a significant nemesis to each other for many years. So I think now everyone is more excited to watch the 2 play in a Canadian match up. Besides this is the first series it is not like they are playing for the Western finals, which would have a different feeling altogether.
We really havent had playoffs like this for some time. If this was the norm the hate would flow over. But this year there is more excitement to actually re-kindle a rivalry based on a good series. - KOS
Agree. I think the positive thing for both teams is that there is no pressure. Its not like Van just won the presidents trophy. Calgary was supposed to be bottom 3.
If the Flames win people will say it was because of their youth and speed if the Nucks win it will be because eof their experience.
Happy to see the rivalry rekindled!
So back to the matter at point…….You all suck and your team sucks!

First let me say, I'm old'ish, hate the Flames and I always will - respectfully though
That said, Calgary looks to be set up for years to come with some great picks! I hope this rivalry is rekindled for many many years. Because Lord knows the Oilers aren't competing any time soon.

Am I the only one who thinks this is an overrated topic every year? Sometimes ignorance is bliss. Hudler has won a Cup anyways and they have been playoff hockey for 3 weeks. The LA game was the closest to a playoff game in the regular season you will ever see. They will be fine learning on the fly. My bigger concern is how the smaller Flames forwards will withstand the punishment, and if their bodies hold up. If there is an injury on the top line this series is done. - FLflames34
The thing I would worry about with Bennett is not his lack of playoff experience, but NHL experience in general. The playoffs are a tough place to learn the ropes in the NHL. Having said that, it could payoff and it's not like Raymond was going to win the series for you guys. |

I really think Flames brass is treating this year like found money. Whatever happens they are happier than a pig in sheet. Give the kid a taste and let him learn about the intensity. I think he will be sheltered till he earns otherwise. |

To young and inexperienced to know the difference... piss and vinegar and allot of adrenaline do amazing things. I have zero expectations of Bennett, kind of like most did with Gaudreau but if he can come even close to his level of play.
Gaudreau is too small to compete in the NHL, Bennett too inexperienced and the Flames can't sustain their play to make the playoffs...
But its the playoffs... ANYTHING can happen. |

I had 2 and 1/2 channels growing up, the half could kinda sorta be found messing with the rabbit ears.. One of the best non hockey things about playoffs starting was not having to watch repeats of inspector gadget. |

Both those kids are awesome picks, they'll catch on quick to the intensity. |

I think Calgary missing Bouma is a big deal. He played really well against the Nucks, two goals and assist and added grit (a lot of hits). If tanev and hammer shut that top line down, this could be over in 5 or 6. If both teams shut the top line's down, I think it's advantage Vancouver. |
