John Klingberg has reportedly agreed to a seven-year, $29.75 million extension with the Dallas Stars.

This deal makes Tanevs look like Clarksons if Klingberg continues his play

- SMP8719

At Seven years, if he regresses or merely had a lucky season Klingberg would realistically enter Clarkson territory.

Yeah. I wished we signed Tanev for less but I think we paid what he would have gotten on the open market. Klingberg may want to get an agent to handle negotiations in the future... he looks like he left a bag of money on the table.

Am I the only one who thinks that a 7-year deal worth over $4M/year is pretty crazy for a guy that has only played 65 NHL games?

What about trading bieska, bonino, a 1st to New Jersey for adam Larsson and their 1st? Which is pick 6 as of right now.

Nah. I guess the option was to look at a bridge deal to see if he can repeat his performance. The other night they were comparing Karlsson and Suban, Suban got the bridge and then signed for more long term than Karlsson...

But yeah, if Klingberg's first full time season was a flash in the pan, the Stars will need to find a way to trade him to the Leafs.

I was surprised minny looked so confident.

What's up with StL? I've never thought they were as great as a lot of 'experts' said. But many picked them to win it all. They're as cursed as the canucks.

- bloatedmosquito

They have some demons and their goaltending is questionable.

I have always maintained there is no such thing as two #1 goalies. It doesn't work even if they have a good relationship. Roll with your best goalie and have a back up who can come in and help when needed. Goalies need to play. Each has to know their role. WD did a good job this season establishing who was number one. Even though we now know Lack is fully capable of being a #1 in this league and a good one. July will be interesting.

The only real surprise so far is the Blues vs Wild….Minnesota soundly gave them an ass kicking.

That will never happen. That 6th pick will cost you horvat. Sorry.
- bloatedmosquito

I was unsure after i wrote it. I doubt horvat but most likely another high end prospect. McCann most likely.

there are rare exceptions though... Hiller and Ramo went back and forth all year. Whomever was winning started and with rare exceptions you'd see each goalie put a few games together. Made it competitive. I don't see Miller appreciating that scenario and honestly I suspect that either Ramo or Hiller will be dealt in the off season...

I actually thought Ramo was your clear cut #1 imo. Hiller took on the role of back up with professionalism.

Started when the Flames signed him... he said it was nice to be appreciated by an organization.
We can't complain about our tandem this year...Ortio (outside the Winnipeg game) was lights out too... Gilles signed so there's no room for all... Hiller would work for the Oilers but NO POSSIBILITY Calgary makes that deal save a ridiculous offer coming back from MacT...

Was Miller what you guys had hoped for (injury aside)?

I can't speak for anyone else. For me he was. I think he is a better goalie than Lack. Not that Eddie has played bad or is undeserving of playing right now but I would be a lot more comfortable with a healthy Miller in net.

I do however like your "honeypot" tactics of dividing this Canuck crew in the playoffs...Troll.

Yup Miller was and still is needed. Lack has done much better this time around with holding the number 1 spot, but Miller was worth bringing in and personally, I would be ok with him playing out his contract here

I guess Gillies takes Calgary out of the O'Conner sweeps? Quite a logjam of young goalies...
