hes not a bad player but i think he's the guy that can get them return they need to get the ball rolling before the prime years of giroux jake and mason are wasted - JoeRussomanno
and thats a very fair approach too.
i think hes a very good asset that fills an important slot on any team. but, he isnt some untradeable commodity. virtually no one is.
if magically the preds call up tomorrow looking to move roman josi in a package centered around coots, you pull the trigger. |

There are a lot fewer players who shouldn't be traded than most people will acknowledge, that is for sure |

It really is tough -- we've made advances, as a country, in how we approach it, but sometimes it's hard
My wife tells a funny story about one of her college friends who was really hot. She said she and her other friends always wondered why that girl studied so hard, when everyone knew she was gonna marry the hottest guy with the most money and make cute babies -- which is exactly what she did
My point being: Women do it, too -- they know who's hot, on their end - AllInForFlyers
yeah i understand. i mean it is what it is. looks are a commodity just like anything else. i dont even really hold it against good looking people for wanting to be with other good looking people. its like anything else, youre worth what someone else is willing to pay, looks wise.
but a very large portion of a person's looks are nothing more than genetic happenstance. its nothing youve earned, or have any right to necessarily be "proud" about. and certainly not something to feel so haughty over that it causes you to look down upon someone else.

ill admit its easier for me because im not a flyers fan. i can give the whole ohhh no ones above being traded speech because i dont have the emotional ties.
when the pens get swept and do something dumb like trade malkin, ill probably cry. |

watching these playoffs.....its amazing....we really have a lot of dead wood on this roster.
we are years away. but im excited about our D - Just5
we do have some dead wood no doubt. how many "years" are you talking about? i don't think it will take more than a couple for them to be in the mix again. a trade and FA signing here and there can make a huge difference too. teams can rise and fall quickly in this league.
Boston: 2011 cup. misses the playoffs
LA: 2012 and 2014 cups. misses the playoffs.
Devils: 2012 finalist. misses the playoffs.
i think chicago might have missed the playoffs in 2011 or 2012 after winning in 2010; can't remember for sure.
vancouver: 2011 finalist; missed last year, back in it this year.
things can change in a pretty big hurry. |

You did call Vinny on Day 1 -- I won't even lie: I never imagined it could be this bad, this quickly
I honestly thought they'd get a 50-point season out of him, maybe two if they were lucky, before the wheels came off - AllInForFlyers
he was on pace for 397 points in a season until the back injury. don't you know that? it ruined everything. |

i dont think coots will ever be the player some expect, but that doesnt necessarily mean he is a bad player. just a different player. he can be a guy that exerts his influence on every single game without ever breaking 50 points. - stayinthefnnet
He's had 39 and 37 points each of the last two seasons while playing an insanely defensive role. Spent most of this season with a one legged Read and a half crippled RJ Umberger on his wings.
I'm not saying he can be a Bergeron, but I do think he can be a 50-55 point guy who is also a top 2 way center |

true. i think you can get that, but it will require addressing the two circumstances you noted in your first part. |

(frank) her.
i dont care what anyone says, she is only where she is because of what she looks like. thats it. i dont care about whatever credentials she feels she can trot out. as such, its just extremely awful of her to be such a goddamn brat to someone over such things just for doing their job.
i understand everyone gets frustrated, but i can only imagine how id feel if that woman was my mother and i saw her all (frank)ed up about it when she came home from work. granted, those people that do those jobs probably develop tough skins, but still. - stayinthefnnet

Now, I didn't call either of them a waste, but I did say the Flyers need more from them. They really do -- Schenn's season featured some of the emptiest points I've seen in a long time
It's unfortunate if we're going to latch onto his point totals as a sign to keep him and not be honest about when and how he collected them - AllInForFlyers
They certainly do need more, from both of them.
I'm not latching onto point totals, I'm simply pointing out the disparity in comparing Connolly to Schenn, in terms of production. Connolly is a guy that had issues not only being productive in the NHL, but even sticking in the NHL after being a high pick.
Schenn, despite his flaws, has been a regular skater for the Flyers. Connolly had issues playing regularly on a couple of weak Tampa teams, before being surpassed by others.

Well, he's also 22 and he's been pigeonholed into a tough, defense first role for three years.
I get the, "well who else can the coach use" argument...to me, developing Couturier into a poor man's Bergeron is worth more than squeaking into the playoffs with a weak team |
