My self worth will never be messured on the opion of fools...
No worries - mayorofangrytown
Wasn't really about self worth. It was about knowledge of shootouts and role coaching plays in it. You shouldn't have worries about that.

You need your own web page. People will flock to it. You just have to sit there and wait for them. |

All good points.
As far as coaching the shootout, I think they should really simplify things for the players. One thing I've noticed about Oshie is that he only has 4 or 5 moves that he uses. He always approaches the net the same way and has different variations off of his moves. It's kind of like a pitcher.
I would advise my players to master 4 or 5 moves which all start the same, but end differently.
I would also have a list of shooters that I'd use for every game. It would be the same players in the same order so they know. If I want to make a change, I would notify the players before the games begin. I think this might help ease the anxiety. Not to get technical, but studies have shown that people perform much better when they're told they will be called on to answer a question the next day than people who are just called on randomly. |

Structure is always a good thing. Hard to stay with something if it isn't working though.

I'm ok with changes. I just think players should know who is shooting before the game starts. |

I agree with that. Players should have defined roles.

In the NHL ...they do....now good coaching is to find the proper roles for the proper players. |

you know, coaching shootouts was the one thing danny (bylsma) was good at.
you guys need a few sessions of Mustache boy - stayinthefnnet
Yep. As I recall Bylsma put a really big emphasis on the shootout. Every practice they worked on it...and the results showed it. His team won 70% or better of the shootouts during each year of his tenure as coach, and their shootout performance dropped off severely this year (to 40%), without Bylsma.
