I really could see us trying to trade for the 1st overall. Were really the only team that can do it..I don't think the drop off between the first two picks is THAT big.

We'd have to give up 2nd overall our other 1st and Risto and Reinhart and potentially our 1st next year too. Too much

Well if thats the price, Murray won't do it. Doesn't mean we won't make the call.

Did you see his reaction today looks like someone killed his family I would not be surprised if he never puts on that jersey

Then again Reinhart wouldn't really be useful in Edmonton considering they have a better him right now in RNH.

We'd likely have to fit it to their team needs.. 2nd overall pick Eichel the big center man they need. Other 1st this year (self explanatory) Risto (Big top pairing D man they need so badly!) next years 1st (No Reinhart means need to up the anti. And I wouldn't be shocked if they asked for either Ennis or more likely Girgensons too

I would kill murray, we don't need to be helping the oilers out by giving them good Dmen (most likely what they would want) and we'd probs have to overpay

I saw it.. I think he honestly assumed he was going to Buffalo and was really excited to the fact it would happen or he'd end up in his hometown Toronto. No one was really talking about Edmonton being and option. Probably because people just assumed fate wouldn't be such a fickle female dog. But he also just found out where he is probably going to play his entire career. No way he wears another teams jersey till he's way past his prime. (Could you imagine the PR nightmare they'd get for losing him after what they went through with 99..) He was probably just overwhelmed.

Like I said. A they will probably be winning a lot by then. It's almost physically impossible not to with a roster that talented upfront.. B Edmonton will likely make him the richest player in the league by a mile by then because they don't want to piss him off like they did with Gretsky

He wont not sign his first contract so drop that pipe dream now. And when he does become an FA in 7years.. Edmonton will probably make him an offer he cant refuse. If he's the player the entire world is expecting him to be. It would be ridiculously terrible to lose a player like that. In this age of the NHL you just don't see it anymore..

After he wins a cup or two maybe he doesn't want to stay? They can't pay him that much while also keeping 3 other first overall picks and plus eberle and Draisaitl, not to mention Dmen, and I'm also sure anyother team would pay him ja lot too.

You make it sound like he you know his decision when you don't you don't know what the kid is thinking he could just do the unthinkable and stay in the OHl for two years then pick his own team to sign with or make Edmonton trade him and you already having him signing the 7 year contract when he isn't even played a game yet

I'm going to go on record and say the Edmonton Oilers will never win the cup with that roster you can quote me on this in 10 years

If they haven't won a cup by the time he's like 26/27 I'd say he would want out.

First off for legal purposes with the new NHL you don't become a UFA until 7 years in I believe. Meaning he will be basically Oiler property for the greatest portion of his career. Also he's all ready said he will go wherever and won't refuse a team. So he's basically stuck there. I'm sure based on his personality and loyalty. He'll grow to like it there and want to finish his career there. And trust me, only chance he would have at leaving is if he'd want to win in his hometown and demands to be traded there when he becomes an RFA.

Like until they get better defence and better goaltending?
Quite the prediction.
Did u just come up with this?

As far as the pipe dream scenarios; he's an oiler unless someone is willing to bend overin a trade offer.

Deal with it brah

If he doesn't go back to Detroit he at the very least considers them. They have crappy management, but a boat load of talent.
