From Rule 74.1 "Too Many Men on the Ice"
A player coming onto the ice as a substitute player is considered
on the ice once both of his skates are on the ice. - scottak
Doesn't make sense, tho, that you can sit on the boards with your legs interfering with the play - it should have been some kind of call when the puck - in play - touched Keith's toe. |

I agree it should be a penalty for something...never seen that happen before.. |

That was an example of the delay of game misused...purely accidental.
Game should not be decided on that kind of penalty. |

Yes, it does. Pucks hit players on the bench all the time, often with their gloves hanging over the dasher. The correct call is a stoppage of play for a puck striking a player on the bench. He was on the bench and had not entered play. |

My take on Versteeg today watching from the 300 level. He seems only interested in the offensive zone. Several times he was standing at the opposing blue line waiting for a pass while the play was either going on in our zone or near our blue line. I honestly don't know what he does or what the coaching staff sees in his game that makes him a fit over TT or even Nordy. He's lost his temper several times too and you can't have a guy not playing D and potentially taking dumb penalties too. I just don't get it.
Same thing with 32 and 44. Not sure at this point what it would hurt to give Cuminsky a look. You already know what you have with Runblah and Cuminsky seemed to play well enough when he was in. Having him spell one of 32 or 44 would take some pressure off the top 4.
I was hoping for more from 80 today. Wonder if he sits again or if Q just stays with the same lines since they won.
11 was energized. Loved his game and that line was good the majority of the time they were out there. |

There is a penalty in the rulebook classified under 'deliberate illegal substitution'. That would be a call at the discretion of the referee based on what he thinks the intention of the player was. |

Yea that entire using the rule book thing is an issue.
If Nash wants to be salty over that call ... let 'em. - kwolf68
Wondering why Nashville got a '2nd timeout' there in the last minute. Refs allowed their bench to drone on and players seemed to be coming in and out...and they wouldn't drop the puck. |

As long as some club beats the Habs I'll be ok...even the Pens.

I'd take that "thug" on the Hawks everyday of the week and twice on Sunday. |

Really thought the Sens played a heck of a game tonight...sad to see them go down. Karlson really taking the body this evening. Interested to see what happens in the Saddledome tonight after Friday night in Van...which was a f-ckin' embarrassment.
Meantime - Rodon called up for the pale hose... |

Because NBC would rather have the Nashville market going forward than Chicago's.

If that was the case, then the Flyers would be in the playoffs (aren't they owned by Comcast, which is a division on NBC?). Bettman is a pawn for the owners, who knows what he has promised these guys to own a franchise. Yes, I don't trust him as far I as can throw him. |

Q at post game presser, "we make decisions based on performance." *
* with the exception being Versteeg, who will always be in the lineup. - ArlingtonRob
TT has to play over him and #11 needs to stay in the line-up....
but Q going for 23's experience over 86....
Q speak: darling starts again
Darling has a 0.94 GAA and .975 save percentage in two contests. Crawford has a 6.75 GAA and .809 save percentage. |

Do you not realize that Sage was being facetious?
Sometimes I just can't fathom your reasoning...so conspiratorial...but to what end?
Bettman is the voice of ownership, that's a given...but he's also the administrator of the league, so his responsibility goes beyond simply being a mouthpiece for ownership.
The Flyers don't make the playoffs because they have don't have enough talent...period...and you don't need to be a GM to see that. Bettman would luv for the Flyers to matchup with the Rangers in the post season...often.
What "promises" haunt you so much to create such paranoia?
If the big markets do well, the league does well. But in addition to this, if the NHL wishes to grow it must provide entertainment in smaller markets and nontraditional markets. Doing both is NOT an easy task.
I'm not thrilled with all things Bettman, and there are aspects to the modern game I don't like, but overall the NHL is doing rather well.
And as a Hawk fan I have little to complain about...Versteeg notwithstanding. |

I do like the position of the cameras in Calgary...and the lighting.
Earlier today...the Islander game was odd. The primary camera was in one zone near a blue line. |
