Brule was cbj's (frank) up not the oil - Redmile247
I think it was equal parts Edmonton and Columbus. By the time he was traded to Columbus he was already disenfranchised. It's really too bad, the kid never really got the guidance and proper mentoring that someone at that age and inexperience should have. As has been mentioned, I know he had some personal issues but that's what a good organization does, is helps their players to overcome such problems and get them back on the right track. None of that happened with either the Oil or Columbus unfortunately |

He didn't score 3 goals. He did play well. Flames were scared to go to the net after the shyt kicking markatrom gave the sens goalie on wed |

I absolutely despise the coil and the waffles. I've never despised any team as much as I despise the coil now, except the leafs. The more I despise the coil, I raise the amount I despise the waffles to match since as a rule I despise them as much or more than any franchise.
I'd like to see Lowe and Mac t getting egged when they come back to Vancity. Fans in every nhl building should let them have it, especially Lowe. |

my bad. That just makes the Oil seem more culpable, though. That said, both organizations aren't off the hook as neither of the two were able to translate his great Jr. success into the big leagues. I have to feel for him, as he had such a fantastic junior career and now he's basically out of the league. A real tough luck story. |

I think both teams made mistakes in his management and development and I'm not sure you can pinpoint the exact timeline that was his downfall - although I recall he had a concussion(?) which made it that much more difficult to come back from. It's just a shame that such a young kid with so much promise had his career derailed by both teams. I think too much pressure was put on him and the perception was that he was a natural game-breaker. They obviously miscast him in a situation that was destined to fail. But I guess there are many many more 'Brules' out there. There is always an element luck and fortuity in a player's success |

Look at Detroit ...they seem to turn every pick into NHL players ...when's the last time they had a kid playing in his teens for them ? I get it's easy when you are already a good team and can be patient but sometimes I think there needs to be a one year AHL rule or something like that to prevent players from coming in too young...it has worked pretty decent for some but for the most part the guys who can jump right in wouldn't be hurt from a year of AHL |

I doubt Edmonton will start now. I'm sure they are having a C sewn on McDavid's jersey as we speak. |

D-men and goalie is still terrible. For their sake trade Hall, RNH, Ebs, Or yak to improve your defence core.
If they dont do that, picking Mcdavid could be utterly pointless. Get dmen SOON.
And yeah, A goalie wouldnt hurt
Brossoit? Dude has not been given a big enough chance. |

I said this a couple times over the last month. Buffalo may be the real winner here. Both McDavid and Eitchel are generational talents. That isn't debatable. So was Crosby, movie and Daigle. Most turn out some flop hard. What if Eitchel turns out to be the far better player? Its certainlyvnot a stretch at all. Buffalo is now in a can't miss situation |

But seriously. He beat the shyt out of him. To go down the ice, call out the goalie and beat the tar out of him. All this while being arguably the best player in the league. That's playing like a boss |

I think it's a stretch to say Buffalo is in a better position. You wouldn't suggest that EDM take Eichel with the 1st pick, so as of right now the preferred player is undoubtedly McDavid. Eichel may turn out better but the odds currently favour McDavid and that's all there is to go by |
