Well thank God Toronto didn't win the lottery! Glad he went to a Western Conference team. |

I would have preferred Arizona getting him, then having the franchise moved to Seattle, then be able to watch him live. - AlexF
Yeah, that scenario would have been ideal. |

I didn't care who got him as long as it wasn't the waffles or the coilers.
I'm not okay with him going there. Not at all. I hope they discover some impropriety and do it over again.

I'm pretty dissappointed that the Oilers won the lottery. Some terrible team was going to win, but they really need to fix a system where the same team picks 1st 4 years out of 6. |

They should be banned from picking in the top ten for ten years. |

That's probably pushing it, but there should be some measure of diminishing returns on futility. |

I absolutely despise the coil and the waffles. I've never despised any team as much as I despise the coil now, except the leafs. The more I despise the coil, I raise the amount I despise the waffles to match since as a rule I despise them as much or more than any franchise.
I'd like to see Lowe and Mac t getting egged when they come back to Vancity. Fans in every nhl building should let them have it, especially Lowe. - kaptaan

I'd be all for having teams that have won the lottery become ineligible for a set period of time but not picking top 10 is too extreme |

Yes, it would be better if they restricted teams from drafting number one in consecutive years or within a certain time period. I think that's why there is so much backlash against this recent draft lottery. It simply doesn't address situations where a team's issues is primarily managerial. There has to be some accountability for organizations and not just rewarding them with first round picks because of their incompetence. |

Interesting take:
Rhys Jessop @Thats_Offside
Fwiw I don't think McDavid will be as good as Crosby. Crosby scored more at a younger age with worse teammates in a lower scoring CHL league |

Well, few are as good as Crosby, so that's not a terrible bet to make. A lot of young players get hype. Barring injury or Oilering, he'll be a star. But how good he gets is impossible to say at this point. |

Okay, how about for every first overall pick they can't draft in the top five for three years.
That would mean no top five picks for twelve years. |

Hopefully McDavid has smart advisors and pulls a Lindros. If he wants to have a successful NHL career probably best to get as far away from that dysfunctional franchise as possible.
Sideshow Bob fined $50k, maybe the NHL is finally catching on to him....not sure what the logic is of rescinding Engelland's instigator besides convenience. Looks like the NHL was just trying to find a way out of a sticking situation.
Given Engelland's play I'd rather have him in the CGY lineup! |

Re: Oilers - they're just so lucky, what more can be said? They've only finished last twice out of the four times they'll select first overall…it's nothing to do with them, their young players have actually been trying to win. |

Flames are a dirty team led by their embarrassment of a coach. Could be a great series if it was just skill on skill but the Flames had to go and ruin it with cheap shots and dirty plays. - hankthetank
Cheap shots and dirty plays? I saw Engelland and Dorsett scrapping then Hamhuis jumping in to make it 2 on 1. Then proceeds to help Dorsett wrestle Engelland to the ice!! That was such classic Nucks dirty play and cheap shots led by their embarrassment of coach! You are just jealous that the Flames beat down the Nucks and because the Nucks are a team led by two sisters. Go Flames Go!! |
