both players are considered the closest to being untouchable - Michael Pachla
Which is why one of them would most certainly be involved in a McDavid deal. |

It is entertaining Especially seeing someone battle for Drew Stafford and compare him to 24 year old, ultra skilled, tough Evander Kane after seeing Drew Stafford as a Sabre waste away. |

Murray and Pegula really want McDavid but I didn't say #28 was involved in the deal. - SABRES 89
I wonder what forward that would be then.... this is interesting |

I don't disagree, just trying to see what it would look like without FA and trades. - Sabresfan-365
I just hope Timmy stays the course with Eichel.

that's the point.
all they can do is sign warm bodies!! they cant sign anyone of consequence or trade for a star with an ntc. this is just it. nikitins and ferences are the only insulation we have to turn to, to build around our kids.
and the murray thing. maybe they shouldve drafted murray (side note--tambellini drafted him--NOT MACT) but I like this one cause murray would have changed NOTHING thus far.
yaks led the league in goals and points. murrau missed the wole season. we probably have worse season without yaks.
last year murray agains missed some time, but played well towards the end while yaks struggled...but in edm, hes thrown to the wolves, not sheltered behind wisniewski, tyutin, johnso. but either way, ill concede hedve helped abit.
this year? missed massive amounts of time again.
maybe down the road murray wouldbe been the right choice, but at this point, no difference. probably the opposite actually
and as far as trading, until I see some positive proof that mact turned down a quality offer, its just guesswork - Ihateallofu
There are plenty of high quality dmen in the league that don't have NTC/NMC's. You completely missed that point.
As far as Murray goes, you don't know that the injuries and whatnot would have been the same. But, even still, you'd be in a better place defensively with him than with Yakupov.
Also, when exactly did Yak lead the league in goals and points? I'm fairly certain he has not won an Art Ross or a Maurice Richard trophy.... |

McCabe/Ruhwedel/Strachan?
It's a 3rd pair, so it doesn't need to be overwhelming. |

good point...am of the opinion that those two will anchor this team for years to come, so i'm not too thrilled with the concept of them involved in a trade |

Could see this turning into the hockey version of "draft day"
The only reason to make the trade is you don't think you can win with him for whatever reason. I don't believe that to be true but you never know. |

Even Oilers fans will admit that Buffalo has what it takes, but that doesn't mean much when technically it "could" take: Ristolainen, Reinhart, #2, other 1st, +
MacTavish will listen, I just hope Murray doesn't go that far. - stashu
Ya, screw that
I'm happy getting Eichel |

But poor Edmonton can't draw anyone to trade with them or to entice quality FAs. But it's NOT MacTavish's fault...despite no one ever mentions a GM... |

I've said this a few times, but all one has to do is look at the Lindros trade.
Not a good idea on our part. |

Nice! Too bad your fan base and management are going to crucify him when everyone realizes that Defense and Goaltending are also part of hockey. |

Not only that, but it's BS that nobody will waive to go there. Buffalo convinced Gorges to waive his to come to a team that was epically bad the prior year in a city that everyone does nothing but complain about.
Murray must be one hell of a smooth talker... |

Except Stafford wasnt a waste for the Sabres. What you see in Winnipeg is what you wouldve seen in Buffalo if the team was more talented. Stafford was one of our best 200 foot forwards. Consistency issues, but he was meant to be a secondary scorer, and thats what he provided.
Considering the difference in their draft status and Staffords later development, the career numbers arent all that different... |

I didn't hear anything about what D man or Forward that was being mentioned. Someone said maybe Gus or Risto, I do not know any names just what was being talked about. No names mentioned as of now. |

If a scenario like you mentioned happened, I could see Ruhwedel getting the call. He was with Buffalo what seems like forever ago, so I personally see him being up if the defense got that depleted. But, as I posted, I'd rather not trade too much out for what is an obvious upgrade in McDavid, but not worth the loss of a top pairing D-man plus basically 2 more firsts (if what 89 said about the other 1st and "a 2nd" is true and that 2nd being Buffalo's at 31)
If Eichel = Getzlaf, I don't have a desire to get rid of a top pairing d-man plus more |

not sure where everyone's getting all of this...seems a bit far-fetched to me, from both the edm and buf perspective...
didn't someone from edm say that there was less than zero chance they'd move that pick? |

Yes.
Until 89 came in here and told us to buckle up!
Damn you, 89!
