He did get the Devils to the cup finals.

heatley refused to waive after a deal was in place.
Nylander refused. hossa took less for Detroit. Clarkson took less or Toronto.

And we are talking sending only 2 players over (plus the 2nd overall), not 6. So it's not like the Sabres gut their team to trade up. My 2cents.

Dude, when people talk poop about Edmonton, NO ONE points at MacTavish...the ONLY people to bring him up are Oilers defenders who love to point out how new he is on the job so it's not his fault!!! Pretty sure a team's poopty history is something independent of current staff - including Buffalo's.

If nothing exists before MacTavish's heavenly works, then those cups didn't happen I guess.

Except Stafford wasnt a waste for the Sabres. What you see in Winnipeg is what you wouldve seen in Buffalo if the team was more talented. Stafford was one of our best 200 foot forwards. Consistency issues, but he was meant to be a secondary scorer, and thats what he provided.

Considering the difference in their draft status and Staffords later development, the career numbers arent all that different...

They were Linus Ullmark, Zemgus Girgensons and Sam Reinhart.
