Dude, when people talk poop about Edmonton, NO ONE points at MacTavish...the ONLY people to bring him up are Oilers defenders who love to point out how new he is on the job so it's not his fault!!! Pretty sure a team's poopty history is something independent of current staff - including Buffalo's.
If nothing exists before MacTavish's heavenly works, then those cups didn't happen I guess. - stashu
what?
like edm fans don't ever point at mact? is this a joke?
read our blogger.
anyways, mact isn't infallible. hes made a few minor missteps imo. but the hate heaped is laughable |

Damn you, 89!

No need to be, sports figures are the politicians of the entertainment world to me - can't really believe a damn thing they say since they'll fluff you until their next check is in their face. - stashu
let's put it this way, could you really see edm trading the first overall pick this year?
really? |

He lost Parise, and Lou doesn't run that team like he use to. I'm not a huge fan of Deboer but I'll try to find silver linings. Would rather have Babcock. |

We could.
But until Timmy utters the words, "(frank) you, and your lottery pro-cess, Gary. The Sabres pick Jack.", we won't. |

Well doesn't it cost draft picks to get a RFA depending on the offer amount. - Homer
Yes. I was referring to roster players. But if they offer sheeted him at $3.3 that's only a 2nd. I believe the Sabres have 3? |

You don't know that.
Who were Ron Hextall, Mike Ricci and Peter Forsberg before they had great careers?
They were Linus Ullmark, Zemgus Girgensons and Sam Reinhart. - grand-magus
There's still Steve Duchesne, Huffman, Simon and TWO FIRST ROUND DRAFT PICKS.
Anyone comparing the Lindros trade to a possible McDavid trade is absolutely bonkers. McDavid and Eichel are both seen as generational players, Buffalo doesn't need to pay a king's ransom like Philly did just to get McDavid. If Edmonton really wanted to do a rebuild right, they could trade down quite a bit and pick up some nice roster players without having to sacrifice the future.
But you know, it's Edmonton. |

Shhh, there were 2 top end goalies and some high end forwards who didn't want to go to Edmonton. That team can't attract ANYBODY apparently. - stashu

yes of course. nikitin was his first choice
niktin actually said no when we traded for his rights. checked the market. saw no other takers and then agreed.
simple cause and effect.
"see, he didn't sign any big name free agents. he forgot to!!!terrible gm"
he also loves adding an extra mil and a year to the contracts of the secondary players. hes just that bad
anyways, later. enjoy eichel. hes gonna be good. |

I wouldn't waste the ink. He doesn't think Sidney Crosby is that good - sbroads24
I said Crosby was a low end generational player, not on the level of Gretzky, Orr, Lemieux.
By the way I was listening to Leafs Lunch the day after our little discussion and Ray Ferraro and the boys there said the same thing I did They wondered if he was slowing down, why he wasn't producing. Compared him to today's Peyton Manning.

As critics of Edmonton, we're not talking about MacTavish, just like when people criticize Buffalo for never winning a cup we're not dumb enough to assume they're bashing Murray.
By saying things like "Edmonton has a history of mismanaging players/picking the wrong players in the draft/etc", it refers to more than just post-4/15/13
But the Oilers faithful always deflect by saying "Well, MacT (you know, your mutual good buddy apparently) didn't do all that, so joke's on you!"
I don't know the moves MacTavish has made, but he's been in an upper management role since before the 2012 draft and they've drafted 2 (quick glance) d-men in the first 3 rounds since he's been on board. |

If he had a few more Pavelski's and one less Thornton...
Joe is a great player, just was never sold on the big guy's competitive spirit. He talks a good game, though. |

They're some kind of enigma, you just never know. Would YOU trade it if you found someone dumb enough to give up a Lindros-like haul (substituting in a good player for the cash that was used in that trade)?? It would be enticing |

they spend pages talking about how upset mcdavid is going to edm, how horrible of a place it. even is in relation to buffalo. which isn't exactly paris in its own right.
but now, im exaggerating and its not so bad. they can totally attract free agents |
