Hextal was far from Ullmark when that trade went down. You're way way off on that one. - dadeadhead
It's not an exact comparison, and there's no way it could be.
But my point is, if there are people here that want to give up too much for one guy, it's not worth it. |

Hextall had 3 30 win seasons, a Conn Smyth, a Vezina(both won as a rookie), and 48 playoff games played prior to that deal.
It's not even in the ball park. |

I said Crosby was a low end generational player, not on the level of Gretzky, Orr, Lemieux.
By the way I was listening to Leafs Lunch the day after our little discussion and Ray Ferraro and the boys there said the same thing I did They wondered if he was slowing down, why he wasn't producing. Compared him to today's Peyton Manning.
You are getting free commentary by me that the pros give, you're welcome - GilPerreault11
Why he wasn't producing
3rd in the league in points this year
1st last year by 17 points
Scores 2 goals last night
Congrats, you and Ray Ferraro are both wrong

“I can tell you, it’s pretty much automatic that Edmonton and Winnipeg are the first two names anyone comes up with,” said another agent.
"Edmonton had five first-place votes and was named on every ballot, as was second-place Winnipeg."
"Buffalo was third. Ottawa and Toronto tied for fourth/fifth." - Dangles13
You can wallow in the reported crap or you can have your management team overcome the thoughts of players by doing things to improve it. Feels good being a historical franchise yet being at the bottom of NHLers minds, doesn't it?
Know what other team is on that list, and likely has been for a while..Buffalo. Yet they've talked multiple people into waiving their no-trades to come there despite this horrid reputation. Whether you have to overpay or whatever it takes, that's management's job to work on that reputation. Management that has included the beloved "MacT" for 3+ years of now, as well as him as a prior coach and player of that franchise. |

Ok, then substitute our best player - your choice - for Hextall.
Better?

Generational talents, which he is, and only score 85 pts can be questioned. Low end generational talent. Ray Ferraro is a smart guy |

Sabres GM Murray not calling Eichel a consolation prize - GilPerreault11
Only people who want to believe a 1-line eye-grab really thought that, IMO. Gotta love "media" |

I've been saying that too. The media takes one snippet of something a guy says and twists it around to create a controversy. It's horribly obnoxious and, IMO, terrible reporting.
There is no such thing as integrity in the media anymore. |

This was the lowest scoring champion (minus the 2 lockout years) in almost 50 years. |

You remind me of the people claiming Ovechkin was slowing down 2 years ago.
Do you think the constant injuries to Pitt had anything to do with them slowing down the 2nd half of the season? Dupuis, Bennett, Hornqvist,Kunitz, and others?

He should just come out and say that the plan was to finish last to guarantee one of the two.
A big "F" you to people against the tank and to say more directly that he is happy with Eichel. |

Wallow in reported crap? I should dismiss professionally reported news because your opinion is more important?
If you had read the whole post you would have seen that Buffalo was on the list, however they do have the benefit of being an American city.
How am I to have "my" management team overcome the thoughts of players? |

Media has their narrative and agenda and last night it was TM's disappointment in having to settle for Eichel. Many outlets left out the line where he said he's not disappointed in the player but the process. Didn't fit the agenda for the evening. |
