dude, he'll need to play college for three more seasons in order to do that...wadr, it doesn't make sense to me...he's an nhl-ready talent - Michael Pachla
and that's the dumbest loophole ever more and more college players are doing this every year mike reilly is about to do it and he's going to sign with Minnesota how stupid is that the Blue Jackets are going to lose a stud defenseman and they can't do anything about it |

Even with Eichel and Reinhart here, I could see Buffalo still in the mix for a top 3 pick.
The learning curve is always there. - ImThatGuy
Of course they will be, all non-playoff teams are. |

If he stays in school for the full 4 years he can become a UFA after his senior season right? |

I thought it was the full 4 years and then you can become a UFA, but not 100% sure not that it will happen anyway |

It was never a 2 year rebuild, Murray just said that these 2 drafts are the most important, the foundation of the rebuild. He's even stated its going to take more then just these two drafts so youre dumb - Prospy1493
I agree. Most on this thread did not. I don't know how you could call me dumb? What does that make all the posters on here arguing with me that it was going to be a 2 yr rebuild tops? |

I don't think it does either, not with what is being called such an elite talent. Pretty sure the other cases weren't guys that were ever considered that highly ranked |

Stated this the other day Boos - if Eichel goes back to BU for a year, then Buffalo gets an even more developed franchise player that will be on an entry level contract even later and it gives the rest of the team a "free" year to develop amongst themselves.
it's not only Eichel that will be added to the team, it's: Pysyk, Grigorenko, Larsson, Reinhart, etc. A year for them to all meld is not going to hurt - stashu
Never a bad thing having him develop more. |

I have to think If that's his plan then they'll just move him to a team he'd sign with |

Nah it wasn't that. Read it in a few different articles and stated it when discussing Eichel on here and was called an idiot for it. That's about it. |

That and plus why risk injury the next few years and miss out on a couple of million. Too much of a risk to stay for the remainder |

I don't think it'd be a bad plan. Stuff those cup boards even more and give some of these guys more time to develop the right way. I think a lot of you guys would disagree with that and i can understand why as an Islander fan. |

there is no chance if he stays then I know he's pulling some shi!t that means he will pull a blake wheeler, justin schultz ,kevin hayes type of bull sh!t. there's absolutely no reason why he would stay he won every goddamn award there's nothing left what would be the point the only one I can think about would be the loophole - gerbe75pts
what if he gets injured in the worlds |

Not that I would call anyone in particular dumb, but I think we can all agree that intelligence is not a prerequisite to join HockeyBuzz.
Liking hockey and enjoying antagonizing others seems to be the only real requirements. |

With Buffalo's lottery luck, they'd finish dead last again next season and lose all 3 lotteries |
