Jack Eichel led the nation in scoring at 1.77 points per game. The next closest freshman, Dylan Larkin (19) had a 1.34 ppg pace and 24 less points. The next closest player, senior and linemate of Eichel, Evan Rodrigues, had 61 points, 10 less than Eichel. He's a free agent currently and has had a very average college career prior to this season. - TheSabresTaco
Nice find . I could see TM looking into something like this. |

I would make that deal. Oshie would fill out the top 6.

Figured I'd do some surface research before I really dig in and procrastinate with real work (this is real work?)
The most interesting thing about my quick points-scouting is that he made an undrafted college senior score the second most points in the nation. His ppg totals through 4 years of school was 0.33, 0.89, 0.45, 1.49. It's not out of the ordinary that a UFA senior leads the nation within the top 10-20 players at above 1-1.3 ppg, but a guy like this, all over the board suddenly hooks up with a freshman and lifts his average ppg pace from 0.56 over 3 years to 0.79 over 4 years. That's the definition of an impact player. A guy, we can say, makes players around him better. Much better. |

Oshie is overrated. And doesn't he play on the third line for the underperforming playoff blues? |

but he doesn't play when the games mean something or when the going gets tough, OR so I was told. |

I was a bit disappointed for a few minutes Saturday but I quickly stopped giving a poop and was happy with pick number two.

60pts this year is nothing overrated.
3rd line on a stacked Blues team he would still be a top 6 forward on almost every other NHL team |

55 points this year, if playing on the third line, is pretty good.
It doesn't help that Minnesota plays a suffocating brand of hockey for the playoffs. Kind of like the Kings did when they won the cup, so you cant blame them.
games 3 - 24-17 shots on goal.

I was fine with pick 2 as well. I was only ticked because Edmonton got another freaking 1st overall pick. Hell I would have even been ok with Toronto getting him. Yes, even Toronto. The rivalry would have been great for a looooong time. But no, Edmonton, the black hole gets him. |

kids only been over 20 goals once. I'd just prefer to add someone with more of a scoring touch is all. But if the price isn't to much adding him will obviously improve the offense. |

Foligno down to the 4th
Larsson plays wing on the 3rd and I keep forgetting about Coho and rightfully so lol.
I am okay with Girgensons starting to center the 2nd line but Reinhart needs to take that over eventually and Girgensons centers the 3rd down the road |

If Toronto had won at least we'd know the talk of trading up to #1 would be out of the question. |

Or Girgensons or Reinhart replace Moulson as #2 LW and he drops down (or traded preferably) |

I think Girgensons is that ideal 3rd line center. Him playing on the 2nd line we have a good team, but him centering the 3rd line we have a great team |

I get that, but my goal was more to replace Moulson as the 2LW. If they had a player do that and then keep the centers as you say, I'm all for it. |

He also missed 10 games this season. I agree more scoring would be ideal but those players are going to cost more...I have been on the Phil Kessel train I know why people don't like him and I am not here to argue that again but if you don't want to give up a ton of assets Oshie would be one of the players I would look at. |

We should be thankful that there are 2 number 1 picks in this draft and we come out with Eichel. I know McDavid was the prize but i'm sure Eichel will be just as good. |

I'm going to preface this by saying the selection is far-fetched, but it's just a scenario for opinions...
If Boston were to go nuts and decide they want to leapfrog everyone and trade for #1 to select Eichel - the hometown boy - would they have the pieces to do it?
With new management coming in, perhaps a crazy move to the top would be a thought for them overall (again, I know the realistic pick is McDavid) |

At this point I prefer Eichel as I think McDavid would cost way too much to swap picks |

We have Moulson for another 4 seasons. No need to replace him yet anyway. Remember he did have over 40 points this year playing on a god awful team. Give him a center like Reinhart and PP time he should be around 50-60 points playing as a 2nd line winger.
I would think a guy like Bailey could be the ideal 2nd line winger in 3-4 years if he keeps improving his skating or a guy like Fasching. I like Gus I just want better as my second line scoring winger. |
