Yup, if we go down in 5 or 6 everyone and their dogs will be asking wd why the f didn't he play the sedins more. Hopefully he does. If they are slugging it up, dial it back. - anavar
Whether the sedins play 16 or 20 a game and they lose. Questions will be asked. |

Canucks get criticized for not standing up for themselves against the Kings and Bruins, now that they are, they are goons and cheap shot artists.
They can't win no matter how they play, there will always be critics. I enjoyed how the game ended last night, they didn't just roll over. - Scooby_Doo
I love their fight back this year. Don't care what others say |

Are you comparing them to forwards or all players because defense men play more mins? - A_SteamingLombardi
Let's take away the top 4 d men for all 16 teams
That still puts them at roughly 90 and 100 in forwards ice time.
Meaning all other 15 teams play all 6 top 6 forwards more then the twins. |

Oh the irony - Bieksa#3
Yeah and did I ever say what you were thinking was wrong? No I didn't. I just don't think cutting the 4th line is the answer. We won game 2 the 4th line played more minutes then any other game. In game 3 they played the least and the sedins were the same in all three games basically. If anything is seems like the 2nd and 3rd lines are the problem. |

Yes, of course - Josi has been playing 30+ minutes per game! but let's say that even if you take away the top d-men's minutes in the play-offs the comparison is nonetheless striking (check out the list at NHL.com - under TOI/GP - almost all top players (I just looked at the forwards this time) are near, at or over 20 minutes
The list is quite long before you get to the Sedins at their 16 minutes/game average

So playing your 4th line 10 min a night(more them most teams) is cutting them

Sorry bud but this is a silly comment. No one is guaranteeing victory if the Sedins play 20 mins but playing your best players more minutes than everyone else is the most logical thing to do to give yourself a chance at winning. Especially when you are not winning (or scoring). |

Horvat and Hansen have been decent.
Kenins.....not
Higgins has been so so.
Argubly the worst 3 games I've seen Vrbata play this yr.
Mathias was great last night and pathetic the first 2.
Can we not juggle lines a bit and give guys playing well time in the top 6 rather then put the whole line out? |

but there will be much more backlash then if the Sedins played 20 minutes a night vs their current 16. People are going to be asking (as they already are) why the top two Canuck players were only played 2nd line minutes. I can't honestly think of a reason that WD is doing this, as we have already debunked the 'they need their rest' theory. It's a relatively short tournament and you play the top guys every chance you get. Again, they can rest-up/recuperate the whole summer. And also it's not like they're 40+, they are in phenomenal shape and should not be held back for any reason. |

Give your team its best possible chance. Best players have to be your best players.
I don't think we have a true 2nd line. So play the sedins and whoever is going that night |

Isn't this why they were played a bit less then normal during the yr? You know so they can do it when we need them |

It not even the fact the twins are the best players - it's also the style they play. They have a tendency to play longer shifts than most because it takes time to setup the cycle.
I heard one of the talking heads (maybe Kyper or Cox) say the twins are being selfish by not ending their shift sooner. Did a bunch of time/shift comparisons. So much derp. Drove me crazy. |

Yep. Although on the basis of the first few games I'd be ok with bumping up the playing time of the Horvat line to 2nd line status. Bonino's line has been largely invisible. |

Off topic
So the Portland Trailblazers have a sign in their lockeroom that says "this team doesn't lose to Spanish players"
And when the media questioned them and made a big deal. The coach say "that wasn't the only thing wrote on our team board

They are getting tired, playing top minutes and Vrbata is nursing an injury from that big hit he took. |

Bonino himself has been alright.
Vrbata
As I said, mix and match whoever is going.
Its sad that Horvat is easily our 5th best forward |
