Oh? You want to talk to Blake?!? Permission granted ,buddy.
Futa is a good choice, IMO. But I don't think we're inclined to let him bail. It's tough because most of the good GM's have jobs already. But Wilson needs to go. You can't tick-off the talent and he broke that rule in spades. Good luck, nonetheless. - Gretz2Kurri
The real question here is can Blake come play D for us again? |

Todd's gone, that was expected all season. He crapped the bed last postseason, and was completely out of his element. It'll be interesting to see who we get as our next coach. Hopefully we won't have to watch every other coach thoroughly out coach them every postseason too! Particularly against Murray.
As far as Wilson goes I've said my piece multiple times. You can't change a team overnight in hockey. This isn't baseball and we're not the Boston Red Sox where we reinvent ourselves every season. The NMCs for Marleau and Thornton are his timetable to get our youth and young talent drafted/signed, developed, and up on the NHL team.
He has already done a great job clearing out contracts, and players that were holding roster spots for our youth: Shep, Kennedy, and Burish. Scott is a real headscratcher, but come on guys it's a 1 year contract. He's gone now. Next pieces to go are Brown and Torres, and they're gone after this season. Just in time for the Labancs, Chartiers, Sadowys, etc to join our team.
Tim, I haven't been able to keep up with this lately. Did we offer an EL contract to Paquin-Boudreau yet? Any word on what we're doing with Jevpalovs? - IDtheJC
Paquin-Boudreau is going back into the NHL draft pool and Jevpalovs is probably fishing in Latvia by now, or whatever you do in the off-season in Latvia.

That's too bad. I like Paquin-Boudreau. Just a rough turnout for him. |

You never know, Doug could use another draft pick on the exact same player. I could see him doing something like that. |

Just read we will be getting a 3rd round pick for Juggles under the new NHL system, likewise we will pay the same if we hire someones coach under contract. He will also be getting paid until then. |

LOL, if that were the case he'd have given him the EL contract. |

I'm one of the guys who is on the fire Wilson Bandwagon. There are a couple people who are still fans of his. And I get it. I think he started out strong and has progressively gotten worse. Or maybe the league has gotten better while he stayed the same? Or I he just doesn't know how to put on the finishing touches of a championship team? Or maybe he hold on to long to players he likes (Niemi)? Or maybe he likes players form his old Blackhawks too much? Or overvalues certain types of players that just aren't relevant in todays game because he's still living in the 80s? Anyways, that went a different direction than I intended...
So my question to Tim is, would you be interested in doing an article where you break down all of Wilson's significant moves in his tenure as GM? Then we can finally decide once and for all in an epic comments battle |

No i think i'd rather see some draft prospects articles personally, i'm tired of the Wilson debate no one will change anybodys mind i think everybody is firmly dug in deep where they stand on this topic. So please for the love of god don't do it Tim. |

the only problem is where is organization goes is all dependent on the Wilson question. Whether people like DW or not is not relevant. Whether ownership keeps him in his current role effects everything. |

Truth is, the GM situation is more relevant at the current moment than prospect. We have all summer for prospects while GM situation will be handled now.
Not a surprise that a Wilson supporters such yourself wouldn't want to look at the facts an logically come to a conclusion as to weather or not to hire a new GM |

I think the bigger thing about this as well is that Dougie has changed a lot as a GM since he first got started. Before it was all about the big impact trades. Thornton, Boyle, and 1 million deadline deals.
All this did was strip Dougie of his best ability. Drafting. We were giving up SO MANY draft picks and so much roster depth to make these deals happen. The cupboards were very barren and dry. This is why the Sharks haven't drafted/developed as many players as other organizations. Lately though the last couple years the philosophy has changed. Although, I would like to see him stop wasting picks on trades for Kennedy/McGinn. It offsets his good trades like Clowe, Murray, and Stuart.
My point is: This is a different Doug Wilson than the GM we had in the past. I used to be a huge Dougie hater 5-6 years ago. Not so much anymore because I think he's learned what he needs to do. This is a draft and develop league. This is not a FA league or a trade league. So, he's doing what he should have been doing all along, but I'm glad he's doing it. If you look at the great value we're getting in the later rounds. I think Dougie is perfect for what we're trying to accomplish. Those of you pissed he isn't signing enough UFAs...I feel like you're asking him to undermine the exact thing he needs to be doing. Drafting, Developing, and getting our younger players into rosters spots. |

We've discussed this before but I'll reiterate that Blake would be a good choice for GM. Hitchcock is exactly the kind of guy we need for our coach in my opinion.
DW seems to get a lot of flack (usually from non-Sharks fans) for giving out NMCs to Thornton and Marleau. But had he not given the NMCs to them, they would have either wanted way more money (and he would have been criticized for bad cap management) or walked away for nothing (and he would have been criticized for bad resource management. So he was in a no win situation I think.
Plus you never know, Marleau may be willing to waive at this point. He hasn't been as outgoing about the issue as Thornton has. |

True......... but that wasn't the question that was asked by freeze. He wanted a breakdown of all the Wilson trades. That type of article wouldn't intrest me, if your an avid sharks fan you should already know the moves he's done in his tenure. |
