okay. this is a discount energy drink. you see it in some 7 elevens, cheesy gas stations, cigarette outlets, etc. basically anywhere you find poor people.

just so happens the 7 eleven across the street has it. i went in to look for something to review for my many rabid fans and realized i had a headache, which a lot of times for me means i need caffeine.

now in a previous life i was a sales rep for the nestle ice cream company so i kind of know how these things work and i was very surprised how many facings this 7 eleven gave rip it. they got an entire row in one of the fridge doors. it was the bottom row, but still an entire row is a little bit unheard of if you aren't pulling up in a coca cola truck. so i had plenty of flavors to choose from. there was grape, fruit punch, orange, and then a few dizzying trendy names that didn't actually tell you what flavor it was. luckily, f bomb had a helpful little picture of a pile of fruit so this one at least helped you out a little. i suppose it's supposed to be tropical fruit.

i opened it with a pretty apprehensive feeling about the whole thing, but i had coffee in the kitchen i could turn to if i had to dump this bad boy.

i took my first sip and was pretty surprised. it was sweet fruity sugary goodness. but as quickly as my face lit up about that it went all finkle is einhorn even faster. this isn't just an aftertaste we're talking about. it's a taste that arrives like 2/10 of a second after the sip and lasts longer than the fruit taste. i've tasted it before but i cannot put my finger on it. i don't know if it's chemicals or packaging material, or asbestos or what but it is very unnatural and dirty-tasting.

guys, don't worry because my original purpose for going into that 7 eleven did not go unfulfilled.

there are 2 G2s in my fridge. grape and fruit punch. and i will report back on those in due time.

the grape G2 might have the most taste out of the G2s i've tried so far. maybe not the blueberry-pomegranate but close if not.

it hits you quickly and it's definitely grape. of course it's got the G2 aftertaste but it seems more forgivable in some of these stronger flavors.

it's kind of a biitch compared to the grape powerade version that i just had the other day but it's not terrible.

so far i guess the powerade sugar free jawn is better than the gatorade one but out of the gatorade ones they aren't all bad. i know the lemon lime G2 is gross so there's no need for me to try it and i think i remember the orange one is pretty bad too.
