I hate the taste of the water here, tastes like bottled water. Whatever filter the fridge water dispenser uses cleans that taste up but I know some kind of illness will befall me for using it.

I probably should look into getting something like you're talking about

I was going to recommend the one I got from amazon years ago but it went up way in price for it to be worth it. It's a no-name 4 liter countertop unit that is a knock-off of the more easily found name brands (Megahome). I believe there are also ones with larger capacities, and ones where the temperature can be controlled so you can try and distill other liquids (the one we got is too hot to distill alcohol). I'm sure there are even top-end distillers designed to be tied into the plumbing that never need maintenance, which is the big downside of having a small unit. Every other use we have to use a citric acid cleaner to get rid of all the scaling. We also have crappy water and holy moley the dregs at the bottom of the vessel when the water is done steaming away really does stink--not like sulfur, thank goodness-- but like wet rust with some other mystery scent mixed-in.

The article only said "organic sweeteners." So you have to go to the company's site (linked in the article) and go to the FAQ to see they sweeten it with cane sugar, this erythritol stuff, and Stevia. I wouldn't mind a version sweetened only with cane sugar.

I'm one of those people where Stevia has a viciously wicked aftertaste which lasts for a whole day no matter how much I gargled or try to swill down another strong-flavored drink. Even a good tongue scraping does nothing to get rid of it. Aspartame is almost as bad, followed by sucralose. Saccharin is the easiest to tolerate, but I prefer cane sugar (and sometimes corn syrup in place of it).

Have you ever had IZZE? It's more juice than seltzer (70% and 30%, respectively) but there isn't any additional sweetener other than what's naturally in the juice. I'm fond of the Apple IZZE, even if much of the juice for all the flavors is white grape juice. Reminds me of a soda made by Pepsi called "Aspen" (then became Apple Slice) only I guess that was artificially flavored.

Regardless, I rarely drink any kind of carbonated soft drink, unless it's part of a cocktail.

i have had izze but it was a while ago. i can't remember if i liked it or not.

i also hate stevia. kickbro keeps saying you get used to it but that's not working for me. so i just avoid it. i also really love sugar though.
