never saw mean girls either, but in some cases they are just comedies that happen to have hs girls as the main characters. slightly different than a straight up teen saga like Twilight i guess.

You will find that often they are 'taken' from the Classical novels... updated for the young of today. Many of the Classics were written for the young of the past, I believe.
