after chubbing up ever so slightly i have purchased beverages with the word "diet" on the label.

i hear they actually won't help but i thought it would be fun to review some drinks we never thought i'd review so here is the first one.

surprisingly, this isn't terrible but deep down inside i know i'm grading on a serious subconscious curve due to the whole diet thing.

as soon as it hits your tongue you actually get the same sensation as orange soda and it's pretty exciting. but that lasts all of a tenth of a second and the taste just disappears and is instantly replaced by a watery version of what your brain thought was happening. worse than that is what comes next: the artificial sweetener taste and the artificial sweetener aftertaste.

now to be fair, i really was expecting this to be worse. i have a repressed memory that peeks through the cracks of my splintering mind from time to time. maybe it was just a bad dream, but it's a diet orange soda memory and it was horredo. all chemically and undrinkable.

this, however, is drinkable it just leaves you with that weird look you get on your face from artificial sweetener (which admittedly isn't as strong as it is in a poop ton of other diet drinks) as well as leaving your brain expecting that orange soda burst of sweetness that never comes.

this gets a barely passing grade. i could do it if i had to. there are a lot of diet sodas that i can't say that about. pepsi max and coke zero come to mind. i really just can't with those. so i guess this is okay.

OK so I usually buy Gold Peak unsweetened tea every week at the grocery store. Well this time, I bought this:

I made my own unsweetened tea!

Very easy to make and it's ready in 5-6 minutes

seagram's diet ginger ale! weeeee!

this also surprised me. maybe they've found a way to make diet soda more tolerable than it was when i was a kid but again this is just a weaker tasting ginger ale with some artificial sweetener taste at the end. but it doesn't smash you over the tongue like a can of diet coke does.

i can totally drink this.

at the very least, if you have a bottle of jameson caskmates that you hated you'll be able to mix it with this in a pinch.

Hi-Ball Energy Organic Energy Drink Black Cherry

Streit2TheReview

I needed a pick me up for today so thought I'd browse the natural/organics aisle. Found this guy and thought to myself hey I like cherry but then also thought to myself hey sometimes cherry things taste like cough syrup. So the first thought won out and I grabbed this off the shelf. It's organic so it's great for you. First sip you get a nice tart cherry flavor. You can taste some sort of energy drink flavor. It's not as distinct as red bull but something is there. It's good, not too tart and not too sweet. A respectable 160mg caffeine.
