It's a little bit odd. Not as sugary sweet as you typically get with cherry flavoured sodas but has a strong cherry flavour to it.

I can see how a person could enjoy it if wanting something different, but would probably just go with a cherry Dr. Pepper instead. Without having something else to balance out the cherry taste it's just a little much.

i know i said the store didn't have diet barq's but i never said i didn't get any diet r00t beer at all. you see what i did was i tricked you. like slight of hand or something. with that birch beer. bamboozled.


so we finally meet



i read a lot about this diet a&w when i was excitedly banging away on my keyboard trying to find out if other people all over the internet loved barq's diet root beer as much as i did.

now, for some weird reason that i can't quite wrap my head around, there aren't a ton of people out there posting easily accessible lists of their favorite diet root beers. but diet a&w, not barq's, was at the top of a lot of the lists i did find. so i suddenly found myself kind of open minded to the fact that maybe diet root beer is just better than i thought? maybe diet root beer is just way easier to pull off than diet cola? so then i'm all like "is hires still around?" and "what about stewart's? don't they have some diet root beer i can try?"



unfortunately, kind of fuck this root beer though.

like i'm sorry, but there's a lot of artificial sweetener taste in this where barq's found a way to hide it almost completely. and even worse than that, this root beer experience isn't even close. it's subdued, lazy vanilla with no kind of licoricey snappiness at all. it also feels like drinking a flat soda compared to the barq's (which really does have bite).

anyway, this is another one where i'll struggle through the sleeve but i'll never buy it ever again. by the time i'm finished with this and the diet birch beer i won't even be able to think of either one without gagging for the rest of my life.

so i think that's the bottom line of this expert user review of diet a&w: kind of fuck this root beer though.
