welp, bad news. i am sitting here very pretentiously swirling my plymouth gin in the glass like i see all these yuppy people doing on youtube and i just don't think this is gonna end up being my favorite gin.

i knew from the first sniff that i may not be the target market here. there wasn't any bite to it. i wasn't assaulted with juniper nor the downright astringency i seem to crave in gins (i know that sounds very backwards). i took a sip and, sure enough, not very junipery.

i can't put my finger on it but there's something familiar in the smell that translates perfectly to the taste but that i think shouldn't be there. i keep picking it up and sniffing it and then sipping it (oh, i'm a yuppy now) hoping i figure out what it is before i'm done writing this awesome expert user review but i seem to keep coming up empty.

right then (as the british say right before they make some sort of concession), i read last night that i can drink one gin and tonic every day and not put on weight from it so i'm thinking this will be a fine G&T gin (because it's gonna have to be).

now, if you're a gin drinker (and i know none of you are) don't rule this gin out completely even though you clearly rely on my expert user reviews to navigate almost every aspect of not only your shopping trips, but quite possibly your entire lives. and i'll tell you why. because i'm not a typical gin drinker. i fell in love with gin at a time in my life when all that mattered to me was partying. i didn't have a lot of money but i knew a gin and tonic was refreshing and if you drank enough of them you'd get pretty shitfaced. so i was buying burnett's gin. it's a dollar or two less than gordon's. so you didn't need to look up to find it, you needed to look down. what i'm trying to say is that maybe the reason i crave that aforementioned astringency is that i like cheap gin. i almost bought gordon's tonight just to find out. i actually even eyed up the burnett's and dragged my fingernails along the 1.75 liter just to make sure it's still plastic. basically, i'm telling you that i'm gonna keep writing these gin reviews but you can't take my word for it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

i'm sure this is a great gin if you're a gin drinker who is into the botanicals and all that jazz. i'm just pretty sure i'm a gin drinker who is into the juniper and the pop it brings.

the closest i can come up with is maybe the ginger that comes with sushi.

which i (frank)ing hate by the way.

whatever it is it made all kinds of things run through my head that were ridiculous but that i actually had to sit and rule out. "melon with jalapeno? nooo. lemon and black pepper?! nooo."

the good news is that i've located a store that carries broker's gin.

everybody can just relax.

well, i drove all over looking for what i thought was a pretty common gin that i'm interested in (broker's) but to no avail.

me driving at night without my glasses (i don't own glasses) is a recipe for disaster. i could have got a dui before i even drank a drop of booze.

but i braved the frigid darkness and ended up picking these up.

now i know the plymouth gin. i've read a lot about that and i can't wait to try it. i have a feeling it's gonna be real good. however, it's a bit pricier than i really want my gin to be and i just bought it out of frustration at the last store i stopped at (which was (frank)ing ghetto as all hell, btw).

this greenall's is some poop i just saw while researching recently. it's a simple $20 bottle and it looks like it gets relatively mixed reviews. apparently it's real old and i'm supposed to have known about it already.

anyway, i went with the greenall's first and it's pretty good. this is gin i'd buy again. it has the bite that i'm looking for but i don't know if it's anymore bite than beefeaters or tanqueray or whatever. it's a little perfumey or florally or something but not like one of those gins that adds like rose petals or some other hokey poop. there's just a little something in the background.

i'll get back to you after i try the sure-to-shatter-my-earth plymouth turismo.

so i been drinking this poop all night (except for the plymouth, i really only needed one glass of that) and now that i've mixed in a beefeater or two neither of these even come close.

i'll drink this greenall's and all but it's just a neutered beefeaters or tanqueray anyway. it's like one of those but with half the finish.
