Zevia Mango/Ginger Zero Calorie Energy Drink

Streit2TheReview

My Only HB Fans know how I love my boujee energy drinks. I seent this jawn at wegmans and I enjoy both mango and ginger so I decided to give it a try. The zero sugar and zero calorie also drew me in and the simple ingredients that I can pronounce sold me on it. The taste is very sweet up front. Not overpowering, but more than you would maybe expect from a zero sugar drink. You definitely get mango but I find the ginger is hiding behind the curtain too shy to come forward. You know its there but you're wondering why the mango is getting all the spotlight. Overall it's an above average energy drink. It's only 120 mg caffeine so it's not going to get you too jittery.

If it's the kind with the artificial sweeteners in it (their usual version), then no, it's downright awful.

Just checked their site. While the main sweetener is still cane sugar (not HFCS), they also use acesulfame potassium and sucralose. All I know is I could taste that artificial stuff even if it wasn't the main sweetener, and I didn't like it at all, especially the aftertaste

They used to sell some versions of their current "Classic" lineup that just used the sugar without the other artificial sweeteners. I think they called them "Naturals" or something. But it looks like they stopped making them.

I keep meaning to check-out "third party" soda syrups that don't use the artificial stuff, yet the lack of cheap and easy CO2 canisters are what really made me give it up. I stopped using my sodastream when Amazon stopped selling the "chargers" for cheap (not sure if they still sell them at all). Pretty much the only place I could find them besides the sodastream site is at BB&B, and the one closest to me is too far to make it worth the while. So now it's just my Izze subscriptions with Amazon, as well as the occasional stuff (Pepsi) bought at the supermarket when it's on sale. Right now that's cheaper than using the sodastream, which I think is a bygone fad for all intents and purposes.

I probably should pitch my sodastream maker away because it was one of those versions that had a LED indicator/timer, but the batteries weren't replaceable. I got it as a gift and had I known that it would be obsolete, I'd have exchanged it when I got it. Right now it's just wasting space in its box in the garage.
