Yeah, but he would never have held the high ground at the angle. - Steelmanpa
It's fitting to have George McClellan as the Flyers head coach, as he was a native Philadelphian. There is a statue of George McCllellan outside of City Hall.

I honestly didn't mind the Tom Wilson hit on Visnovsky last night -- both feet were on the ground, he wasn't still striding
Once upon a time, guys knew not to playing around the net with the puck, thinking that nobody was gonna be there
Visnovsky needs to keep his head up and realize that this is the playoffs and that you're playing a team who was down 2-1 in the series -- yeah, you're getting hit on the forecheck - AllInForFlyers
Only thing I can say is that it is very close to contact to the head. |

Aside from Read, they haven't had much success with college FA's. Guys like Kyle Flanagan and Mike Testwuide were supposed to be big-time players who flopped. Not to say it's an avenue they should give up on, but I'd prefer looking overseas for guys like Raffl/PEB over NCAA FA's. - jmatchett383
I think using both scouting avenues is something the Flyers should continue, if only because signing the FA's is one way that the franchise can exercise one of their advantages (money) without being capped or told they can't do it.
Getting these FA's is a nice way to hedge against bad draft picks. Unfortunately for the Flyers, this avenue became something they HAD to do (because they had no picks) rather than something they could do optionally. |

He's looked absolutely brutal. poor hawks trading a 2nd rounder for him. He look nothing like the K.t. of seasons past. He gets scorched on d every time, can't connect on his passes, kinda sad honestly

I don't dispute that; it was close. I thought Visnovsky was bending over just a bit and is a smaller player than Wilson, which is why it was as close at it was

I absolutely agree. Why wouldn't you keep looking through both options? We've found 2 diamonds in the rough in PEB and raffl in recent years, so obviously someone is doing a decent job with that type of scouting. Given the flyers track record, I would scout overseas a little harder than college FA's. |

Did you think it warranted a look for further disciplinary action?
I didn't....I thought it was borderline illegal. Definitely disrespectful of the other player, but that's not necessarily illegal. |

I feel like Wilson is always finishing checks a bit high. He is a big boy, but for some reason I always find myself thinking, ehh thats close. |

I'll be honest.. I kinda like Wilson. Plays a really tough game, digs in the corners all the time, and he does have some decent hands for a big man. Buuuuut he is on the caps so (frank) him.

I thought one of the biggest things about that play was actually one where Mike Green took a penalty for playing the puck over the glass
He did that because he didn't want to take the hit from Cal Clutterbuck and therefore hurried the play
I think that's what separates the men from the boys in the playoffs -- Visnovsky played, or tried to play, the puck. He did that because he wanted to move the puck out of danger, which is good for the team.
But there's a price to pay for that, and good teams and good players pay that price. Green didn't and took a penalty. I don't want players to be injured, or to be hit unfairly, but that's a play that Visnovsky chose to make, and as you said, that was RBR, because Wilson has to hit him -- you can't just let the guy play the puck there. You have to try to separate him from the puck or make him turn it over
Just a tough hockey play, to me, by two guys doing their jobs

The only thing you can really argue about the play being illegal is that Wilson took a couple of real quick, choppy strides towards Visnovsky before he glided into the hit. I think that's part of the definition of charging (but I could be wrong).
Definitely thought it was borderline. If they called nothing on the play, I'd have been OK with that too.

You didn't like the Hearst stuff?
Gerald McRaney was an excellent bad guy.
The ending was definitely unsatisfying. |

That seems to happen with a lot of HBO/Showtime series
Dexter, Weeds, The Sopranos all started with bang and finished with a whimper.

That's fair, for sure.
And maybe why they never pursued a movie or another avenue to actually finish out the story. |

Not so sure why everyone appears to be so high on Todd McLellan. The impression I got watching the Sharks was an extremely talented team that underachieved and never lived up to expectations.
7 years in SJ McLellan was eliminated in the first round 3 times, and missed the playoffs this year. 4 out of 7 years very disappointing. |
