As long as it doesn't slow him down, that's fantastic! That is a lot of weight for a guy his size to add on. - BiggE
I remember when Roenick bulked up one summer and it completely threw him off his game.

Ghost put on 20 lbs of muscle while he was recovering? I like the sound of that. - MBFlyerfan
It's also intriguing that Murray is interested in being an assistant on the Flyers next year. I think he'd make an excellent assistant coach, especially if they are looking to break some young players into the lineup.

Yeah, that is a ton of weight. Coupled with the fact that he hasn't skated hard in months makes me worry if it's going to slow him down. |

Yeah, though I think it's a little different when you are talking about an older player who had played successfully at a lower weight for years.
I thought all along that Ghost would need to get to 185-190 lbs to play a top 4 role at the NHL level, I just didn't expect it to happen over a few months, rather I though it would be over 1 to 2 years.

Well, the guy was bored, I guess. Slower may have been better, but we'll find out one way or the other.

From the article, I am encouraged:
Gostisbehere, who started the season at 170 pounds, practiced with the Phantoms for the last month of the season "on three-quarters of one leg, I guess, and he looked great," Murray said. "He was practicing and was above the level of most of the players on the ice. He's got a nice game of skating, skill and speed that NHL teams need today. He's going to open some eyes at training camp." |

Yup, and don't get me wrong, if he added upper body strength but continues to work on cardio and conditioning and skates during the summer, there is no reason that it would slow him down.
I have a feeling that both Morin and Ghost will be in the lineup as regulars before the end of next season.

Does the QMJHL has something against Val-D'or? Both they and the Moosheads forced Game 7's, but the QMJHL page had 0 articles about the Val D'or series. I would have thought that a team coming back from 3-0 down would be their top story. |

Seems like NAK started real strong in the playoffs but tailed off the last 3 games. It will be interesting to see how he does against the big guy. |

Agreed!
I'm starting to really think that Ghost, Morin and Sanheim can be 3/4 of a solid top 4 in a few years. |

The Q are not the fastest at getting stories up on their site. Don't get upset. |

That's gonna be huge for him if he can keep his speed and conditioning. Nothing wrong with putting on some strength if it's not taking away from other areas in his game.

Not really upset, but it just seems like the Mooseheads/Ehlers are the more (maybe the most) "marketable" team out there and they had a lot more coverage. I guess more curious than upset. |

It's like all leagues they tend to go that direction & limit or skip a lot of coverage even if it's good. |

For a young guy like him any weight is good weight. If it's a lot of fat he can turn that into muscle this summer. I think it's great news that he could put on that kind of weight. |

Agreed. Too bad Giordano is out for the season. Most underrated dman in the NHL for my money. |

Gio's a stud muffin. It's a sin how underrated he is. And it's a shame why... cuz he doesn't play for the kings, hawks, habs, pens, or rags. Same situation for guys like OEL, brodie, vlasic, trouba, sekera (until he was traded to the kings), myers.

I think when it comes to players like Wilson, and even Rinaldo, a lot of their hits are more about trying to demolish the player, and are predatory, rather then separating the player from the puck, or creating a turnover. A little busy at work, but if the conversation continues, I've got some deeper thoughts on how the NHL chould continue to evolve in terms of the physical game. - MJL
Shoot, as you have time -- I'd be interested in hearing what you have to say.
I don't always love Wilson's hits, because I do agree with you in that he absolutely tries to destroy people, but I'd like to hear thoughts on how the NHL could evolve past that, because I do agree that it's something that could be an issue |
