Other teams stand to get hurt just as much if not more than the Flyers.

It's just more difficult to move bad contracts now. The cap ceiling going down means the cap floor goes down as well. |

(frank), getting rid of Vinny and Umberger may be next to impossible now except via buyouts - BiggE
Buying Vinny out makes very little sense because of the way his contract was structured. His cap hit would be something like $3.1M for the next 3 years then $1.5M for another 3 years.
It would probably be more beneficial to the Flyers to let Umberger play out another season or just waive him to the AHL.
They're in a difficult spot. If the cap is only $68M, they're basically right up against it (including Pronger's LTIR). They still need a backup goalie and to sign MDZ. Leaves very little space to do anything else other than add depth |

Maybe they can find another guy overseas. They seem to be getting a good track record with that with guys like PEB and raffl. Maybe they can find a guy like one of them, and sign him dirt cheap.

There's going to be a lot of rebuilding, but 2 players the @MapleLeafs need to hang on to for sure are Eric Brewer and Zach Sill

The @MapleLeafs need to bring on Mike Babcock as their new GM and Mike Keenan as the new head coach. |

Thats pretty much what I would be looking to do. Look for amateur and international FAs and try like hell to move salary. |

Actually, Vinny's buyout isn't that bad. According to war on ice's buyout calculator it's $2.889mm for 2 years, $2.389mm for one and $889K for three years |

Vinny's buyout numbers arent quite that bad but close. They really need to at least move either Grossmann or L Schenn just to get a little breathing room. |

I'd strongly consider a buy out on him. It's a bad situation. They need to lose the guy, and hope expansion fees negates the cap penalties |

A lot of hyperbole being thrown around. If the flyers need cap space they can just make a trade |

You have to assume he'll rebound and have a better season than he did this past one. If he was truly injured, and he is truly 100% next season, I expect some more from him. |

As do I, but as it stands they have dead space now, and it's in a uniform |
