Exactly. If a player isn't pulling his weight then he sits. Not keep playing with your linemates who ate playing well because line juggling is ilegal
- Bieksa#3

Yep I agree. Couple games ago it became clear Kenins was holding Horvat and Hansen back, just doesn't have the skill or the smarts. Would have been an excellent time to throw Vrbata or someone else on there instead

Hate to say it but I'm starting to miss AV.

The kenins one is good. And Mathias was the only real player going on the 4th line. Put Mathias in for kenins. Roll 3 lines and occasionally give the new 4th line a shift. If they get going. Start rolling them consistantly

I wouldn't mind this on Thursday:

Sedin-Sedin-Vrbata

I think it is a combination of things. Getting outworked (player issue) without any adjustment from the coach = continue to get outworked
- bezz44

Hard to say, saw effort and jump in game 2. Won game, have just been out worked since

Honestly thought McMillan was okay yesterday and didn't do anything dumb with the puck. Throw him on the 4th for Kenins

Yup, front load the team a bit and lean on your better players. Come at them hard and fast from the get go so they're on their heels and you can start rolling the 4th a bit more because they'll have some jump you'd think

Kenins... McMillan... whatever. As long as that line plays less than 10 minutes in the game. Ideally, Richardson would centre the fourth line. Send them out here and there to up the physicality.

It's only his first season. Torts has a ring and look where that got us.

I want to see a bunch of the stale veterans gone next year. Time to start playing some of the youth.

And the McMillan over Sven decision we can't score - let's dress a plug that got waived by ARI

I think for me, the reason we are losing this series is that we are a skill team that has no second line. If we had 3 lines that were banging and crashing then maybe the Sedins would have more space. The lack of scoring is only compounded by Willie refusing to take chances in looking for better options on the second line. When McMillan and Vey were chosen over Baertschi I think we all knew how this would end. I don't think it gets any better until some legitimate skill comes to the second line
Edit: and I don't even want to touch the issue of our D

- bezz44

Built for the regular season, this team needs more size and grit in the lineup for the playoffs. And scoring.

Not sure why Baertschi wasn't in the lineup. I don't know why Higgins is still getting pp time. Should be resting him for the pk and even strength.

As per the d. Something has to be wrong with Bieksa besides the usual. Yep, the d is a big can of worms.

I'm officially cheering for Detroit, Minnesota, NYI or Washington. Only because then we can move up a few draft picks haha.

Any updates on Ferland's suspension for that head shot?

Well, lets look at the team.

Who do you expect to be physical, a bit physical and not really physical?

Physical includes grit, hard to play against, maybe a bit intimidating and punishing.

Physical.
Dorsett
Kenins (should bring it more)
McMillan (not bruising- not heavy)

Physical a bit.
Bieksa (inconsistent)
Sbisa (sometimes elevates game to physical)
Edler (hits a bit, but if he plays too physical, injuries and back issues arise)

Richardson

Not physical
Sedins
Vrbata
Hamhuis (can elevate his physical game a bit)
Weber
Vey
Tanev (can take hits but doesn't dish out the hits)
Bonino
Higgins
Matthias
Hansen (was more physical when he entered the league, see glimpses here and there)
Horvat (durable, )

I'd rather have Sven in for McMillan. That not physical group, the majority of the team, can play physical for a short period of time, just that style of play is not really in their nature.

I forgot Kassian. I'd put him in the middle group, similar to Bieksa, is inconsistent with how physical he plays.

Ferland has been playing great for them. The closest we have to him is Dorsett.

Didn't realize Matthias had 4 hits, team high, last night.

Well that would be my point as why McMillan and not Sven. The team is already lacking physicality

You don't feel there is a connection between quality d-men and offensive output?

IMO, offense is cven from the back end whether it's defensive zone breakouts, cycling within the offensive zone, a PP quarterback, or having a d-man step up as a 4th forward.

When the canucks played their best it was generated from the back end out. Fixing the defense should be priority #1.

Name me any offensive juggernaut team that has a poor collection of d-men.

- bloatedmosquito

Nailed it. If the d can get the puck up ice quick you create a ton of odd man rushes and constant pressure. Thats why the twins were so good with Ehrhoff. We have nobody that plays that way now and Im not saying get ehrhoff back hes older and that ship has sailed. The reason calgary is winning is because of their top 4 d. we have a top 2

Like somebody said on Twitter the other day:

Ferland hits anybody on the Canucks "what a story!"
Burrows hits Johnny Hockey "what a piece of sh!t!"

Well, McMillan was in the lineup and they didn't score enough. But with the overall team effort, leaving it all on the ice, that didn't happen. Don't think Sven would have made a difference either, might have scored a goal, but don't think they would have won unless guys got inspired and stepped up.

I think they should be playing Dorsett a bit more. Maybe the opportunities or situations weren't there.

Maybe the Flames have already won, everyone is hearing footsteps, feeling aches and pains from all the hits.
