Can Chlamydia score goals or clear the front of the net?
- bloatedmosquito

No goals but will definitely clear the front of the net.

AV may be on his way to the finals for the 3rd time in 5 years. May even win it this time

It's amazing how instantly successful AV has been in NY. Great coach. Has a shelf-life like everything else.

You don't feel there is a connection between quality d-men and offensive output?

IMO, offense is driven from the back end whether it's defensive zone breakouts, cycling within the offensive zone, a PP quarterback, or having a d-man step up as a 4th forward.

When the canucks played their best it was generated from the back end out. Fixing the defense should be priority #1.

Name me any offensive juggernaut team that has a poor collection of d-men.

I agree and have made many comments regarding the need for offensive Dmen. But the complaints about the D were their lack of ability to actually play D, not provide offense.

I have been saying that for a while... D cores that are highly successful are all over the scoresheet. They dictate the pace and flow of the game. Spend some time watching Duncan Keith or Doughboy.

In any case Bloateds' comments are spot on.

Daniel responds to Engelland shove after the whistle by picking up Flames' stick, handing it to him. Skates away. Engelland stunned.

Let's not all feed the troll at the same time. Ducks will burst that ego quick.
- rugdnit

The sad thing is, if the Flames lose to the Ducks in the next round, they will still have a higher draft pick than us

Some people find that weak, but I find it classy (and a pretty funny comeback). They're skill players not physical behemoths. Why try to degrade their game to become something they never were nor ever will be?

I agree. 2011 version of me would have been pissed off about him being too polite. Now it's endearing

You need a team based on complementary players. Not everyone can lay heavy hits, nor can everyone have the creativity to score goals in tight spaces.

In a kind of unrelated but related parallel it reminds me of the attempted conversion of Ovechkin by several coaches after Boudreau to have him become "a more complete player", backchecking, defending, etc. He then went on to have his lowest point total in his career and people were crying out for offense.

Let the offensively gifted players do what they do best and surround them with players who do the rest.

Yep. I saw it and thought it was funny, the reaction. No need for the Sedins to mix it up. They are there to score. The problem hasn't been the Sedins, they should score more, at least they don't have too many goals scored against when they are on the ice.

We have a team of complementary players - we need players to hit and finish more.

I like our players but we have too many guys like Hansen, Matthias, Higgins. At least one of these guys has to go to bring in a good checker or finisher.

Step away from the ledge and take a deep breath. It's not over yet.

Saw it live, haven't seen a clip. Right behind the Calgary net.

I meant a team of players that complement each other - snipers, playmakers, shutdowners, grinders, bangers, D who stay at home, D who jump in the rush, etc.

Not a team full of modestly-talented tweeners.
