He pushes him straight in the numbers, right into the boards. It's about as textbook as it gets.

You can see that he doesn't lose the edge until pressure has been applied to his back. Based on his positioning, he may have anyways... but that's just speculation.

Abdelkader was looking at his numbers the whole time, and went forward with contact to a player in a vulnerable position. No matter how you slice it, it's a bad hit.

I've watched plenty of hockey to know there was nothing "good" about that hit. Hey, here's a thought. With less than a month to go in the season lets have one of your dman get boarded and still not playing in the playoffs and see how you feel about it? And if you had been paying attention, we've been saying the same thing about the Abdelkader hit since it happened. This didn't begin now nor with his return, meanwhile Garrison is still not playing.

But, since you are so knowledgeable and we are not, please enlighten us as to why that was a clean hit. Ready set go

I know my hockey - initiated and schooled by a Canadian and a fan for almost 25 years. I was born and raised in St. Louis - so don't let the Tampa location fool you.

The hit on Garrison was dirty, no way around that. If I was a Detroit fan, I would just admit it. I'm not saying Abdelkader had a history of being a dirty player before this episode. But he clearly saw that Garrison was vulnerable and did not let off the gas pedal - worse, instead of just letting their momentum guide them into the boards, he gave Garrison an extra push right on the numbers. If somebody did that to Kronwall, Detroit fans would be singing a different tune.

When I said I want to see Abdelkader carried off on a stretcher, I was being dramatic and engaging in hyperbole. I would like to see him flattened with a solid clean hipcheck that results in him missing the rest of a period/game, but I do not want to see him seriously or permanently injured. Now, if he pulls something like this again, then all bets are off.

That hit was either dirty or reckless - no excuse for either. The crap about "losing the physical battle" is just typical froth spewed by the league office.

This.

We know it was a dirty hit, just don't believe he's a dirty player or wanted to insure him. He's just trolling you obviously.

Please let go of the hit already, yes we have a lot of Wings fans living in Tampa so what no one goes to Detroit to live they leave in droves a broke decaying sewer pit that was once a decent city, if you're proud of that good for you. Hang in there I'm sure they'll bulldoze the hundreds of thousand derelict homes and make a nice park for you where you can retire to watch sunrises over the beautiful Detroit River.

The hit was questionable at best. I do not believe Abdelkader is a dirty player as there does not appear to be any malice or intent to injure. Unfortunately it result in an injury. Hopefully Garrison is able to come back during this series.

There is a difference between hitting and boarding. Maybe you should open up that book of yours again

Well I guess at stirring the pot he is succeeding. At making any logical argument not so much.

Problem for us Bolts fans is we are reminded of this hit every game Garrison doesn't play. If Abdelkader had been fined or suspended it would be easier to deal with. Instead we get some bullpoop answer from the NHL Player "Safety" Dep't and Garrison sits against the team and the player that injured him.

A much needed change IMO. Namestnikov has been invisible and that line has been a mess. No offensive zone time and quite often get pinned in our zone.

I actually wanted the Wings to sign Garrison when he was a FA. They were in that crazy bidding war for Suter and he signed with you guys before all was said and done with Suter going to the Wild.

Suter was always leaning towards the Wild IMO. Garrison would have fit in nicely here.

I just remember being disappointed the organization being sucked in the Suter sweepstakes and losing out on other serviceable D-men like him.

Yup was going to post this. He signed with Nucks after a career year with the Turds (15-20 goals if I remember correctly).

I'm in full agreement Suter was going to Minny from the beginning. It would have taken a massive overpayment to get him to go elsewhere and he got a lifetime type of contract as it was. That chase and last season's Stralman/Niskanen chase really left you guys in a bind.

The Minnesota Wild paid out the tailpipe for him and Zach Parise.
