I don't know why people can't let this go, Murray got the players he wanted and shipped out what he didn't want. Not you Gil. |

At least kaleta knew how the playoffs work...
Just because wilson is better than a guy who should be in the AHL doesn't mean we need to give up assets to get him. Especially since we've got guys who can play that role. |

On second thought, if it's ground beef, one day. Otherwise freeze it.

And if we were trading Kaleta for Wilson that would mean something.
Personally, I'd like someone who spends more time on the ice than in the penalty box and is aware of how the NHL playoffs work.
But that's just me. |

What does that have to do with anything.
Would you give up a 1st rounder to get Wilson? |

Gritty player and spends time on the ice, Wilson won't cost a 1st, are you kidding. |

If you read the article it had an angle attached to Winnipeg being down 3-0 and a positive Sabres side of the trade that challenges some arguments we've seen in this blog/discussion. |

You don't think a former 1st round pick is going to cost that? Especially after what happened last time they dealt one? |

I didn't read it but, I don't know if having Kane on that team now would change the outcome. The Jets have a good team though |

It's nothing that hasn't already been discussed here. Plus it's damien cox. a few months from now if Kane goes through a scoring slump he'll write a similar article on Murray, ethics, integrity, how winnipeg did great on this trade.. |

http://www.sportsnet.ca/h...d-actually-cost-the-jets/ - GilPerreault11
This article makes no sense.
He mentions how in the short term it looks good for Winnipeg, but only because Winnipeg is competitive now.
Yet when mentioning the long term, he leaves out the fact that they got Lemieux and an additional 1st.
Also, he sort of contradicts himself does he not? He basically says the Bobby Ryan trade which mirrors the trade for Kane was a bad move for Ottawa |

It's a pretty interesting read, because he basically discusses both sides of the argument, which as you said, we've also done here.
But what he has to say does make a lot of sense. |

I interpreted what he said differently. The whole premise for the article is that it generally takes years to know the actual winner of a trade. He goes through the entire thing formulating arguments for and against each side of the issue. It's basically a debate with himself.
Personally, I thought it was pretty well written, but everyone's interpretation could be different I guess. |

IMO its an entire contradiction. He says that it takes years to evaluate some trades (Like Bobby Ryan) but then cites the Jets being down 3-0 this year as some sort of indicator they needed Kane back? Kane was gone for the year anyways.
I also disagree that Kane was the best player in the deal.
If Winnipeg gets a #1 defensemen out of it, then that's more important than a winger IMO |

Winnipeg didn't get a #1 defenseman out of the deal, not a championship caliber one anyway. |
