They're absurd, intentional non-sequiturs with numerous filthy elements, both overt and implied.
I think it was about 3 things - 1) rhythm, 2) worrying more about setting a scene than telling a story and 3) intentionally violating expectations around what a song should be.
The guy was always more Stravinsky than Vivaldi, if that makes any sense. But at times he could bite pretty hard in what he was saying. Take the advice to ladies on "Broken Hearts are For bumholes", for example.
