Phaneuf for O'Rielly?
I'd be all over that any day. Hell, let's see if the Avs are dumb enough to swap first rounders if we can throw a few prospects their way |

That would never work.
More like booth, robidas, reimer, horton for #1 + a 3rd |

I would like to see a Phaneuf/Bernier deal to Edmonton for Eberle and a prospect. Think this could happen? Makes sense for Edmonton as they need to make the playoffs or bye bye to Lowe and McTavish |

Phaneuf, Bozak & Nashvilles 1st for O'rielly & Colorado's 2nd, would probably have to pay a couple million of Dion's salary, but he would be gone!! |

Id like to try to get Drasitl from the oilers somehow, maybe for gardiner and bernier + or something like that. Then draft Hanafin to play with Rielly. Add to that bozak and dion for ROR and we would have a couple good centers and a future top pairing to build around. Or the other option I like is tryng to get another 1st round pick in order to take Barzal |

ROR should not be on the leafs radar. He's by no means old, but we should be targetting young players / prospects. Grab a guy like ROR which you will pay handsomely for, by the time we are competing (hopefully that is) he'll be near 30 or 30.
Ppl will say stuff like "24/25 is old?? " and it's not...but when you are YEARS away from even being respectful (claim we are not all you want, we are building from scratch here) than you need to target as young as possible.
Once you have the young core in place, you sign UFAs to insulate them. So pretty much the opposite of what the leafs have been doing for years. I'd rather see them acquire prospects/picks if anything. |

I was thinking the same this - well close anyway....
I do not think Colorado would send back a 2nd and TO would eat 1/2 of Phaneuf's salary ...... so
Phaneuf (at 1/2 his salary), Bozak and Nashville's 1st for ROR |

I would like Draisaitl also. I really have no idea what the cost would be.
If its picks or prospects..not really interested. if its Dions or Kessels.. then yes
I would also look forward to the years of misspelling his name |

Dion / nashville 1st...maybe even bernier
for leon / nikitin's contract.
in all honesty i don't see how it could work. But damn i would take leon.

I was too lazy to google the spelling and took a shot at it. He will be known as Leon from now on, its easier. Hes a big center, somewhat in the mold of sundin (in my mind) and ze german would play hard I think.
Plus it enables us to draft hanafin if available and if not then Leon and strome/marner would be a nice start up the middle

With McDavid and RNH.. he is down the depth chart.
At some point they have to start making hockey trades to try and improve. Giving up one of the untouchables at some point needs to happen to address a crap D and G situation

There is actually something we can do Colin, stop buying, stop watching, stop giving a poop about the Toronto Maple Leafs. If this league weren't run by a .. you know what.. then the Leafs would be in a similar position as the Yankees, and for their bolstering the rest of the leagues finances, they'd be rewarded with increased cap space. After about 21 years of actively watching hockey now, I'm pretty much ready to start cheering for another team. One that I can afford to go to the games of. |

Why do people assume that Bernier/Reimer are assets? its pretty clear to everyone else that goaltending is also a major problem in Toronto |

Why not throw in Reiley and our 4th too since ROR is apparently Rick Nash status |

I think giving up 40+ shots a game is more of a problem than the goaltending. |
