the 1st will be 24/25/30. The idea of trading last year's 3rd overall pick for a next year's 24th is mindboggling.
Reilly played in the whl the year after he was drafted; saying leon has proven nothing is outlandish at the same point in his career.
I like reilly a lot and think he has a great ceiling, but he has far from proven that he will be a legit top pairing dman. He's simply tracking well against his peers(Jones, Larsson, trouba, lindholm, hamilton).
with the state of the Russian economy, the khl is not much of a threat anymore. - Tumbleweed
Reilly standing out this whole year while the rest of the team was garbage is enough for me to say that Edmonton would need to trade is Leon and Pits 1st |

we view reilly diffently. I saw a young player with great potential that made a lot of mistakes. Mistakes that can be corrected, but a player with a lot to learn none the less.
draisailt ain't coming cheap and I'd be happy if we could get him for package centered around phanuef and bernier. |

Edm- Leon
Edmonton would be smart to do this one.. They get a good leader on defense and on forward. Two guys who I love on Toronto.. But, would give up for a good future center. - Canadianleaf
That is a .......'not so good deal for edmonton' |

nah Tumble... he's a Leaf and therefore has zero value - haven't you heard.
and don't worry about it.. Oilers are set in net. - BorjeFan4Ever
you guys are right, Bernier is awesome I just dont understand then why so many leaf fans want him traded. Trade him for Franson and Santo because you all thought they were all stars to |

Take away either 11th pick or Gudbranson...otherwise BLAAAAAAH.
Only if Toronto eats 100% of Dion's contract...otherwise BLAAAAAAH.
Obviously just no and no. - Glak18

[quote=Aetherial]
Hall is 11th in PPG over the last three seasons, and the second youngest in the top 20 Seguin (who has 0.970ppg vs halls 0.971). Every other player in the top 20 in a superstar. He's ahead of backstrom, Perry, Kopitar, Throton in ppg for example. Played more games that Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Malikin, Stamkos, but get labeled injury prone more than anyone.
I get all the narratives about hall, but they just don't line up. Hall does absolutlely stack up against those players, and only 23.
He is also only one of two players inside the top 50 of that list who have never been to the playoffs, and of no fault of his own. The other, Jordan Eberle. One second round appearance and everyone else will get it.

with salary coming back, phanuef should get something similar to what Coburn brought back - 1st, 3rd and a 6/7 dman.
To Philly: Phaneuf
To Tor: 1st, 3rd, any philly dman, salary filler. - Tumbleweed
and philly countrs with to the leafs - Schenn x2, Grossman to the flyers 4th overall, and reily |
|
|
|
along those lines
To Toronto: Simon Morin, Luke Schenn and Brayden Schenn - BorjeFan4Ever[/quote sure, throw in jvr and reily |

I'd like to see the Leafs hook up with Arizona. Kessel + Nashville's first is a great scenario. The only problem with that is that the Leafs would not be getting fair value for Kessel. Someone else has to be included. Look for Toronto to ask for Domi, but I doubt that would happen. Another could be Kessel for New Jersey's 6th overall pick and a prospect.
Phaneuf is a whole other topic. His contract is so huge and hasn't really shown he's earned it. He's not a top pairing Dman but on a team like Detroit, Colorado, Dallas or San Jose, he would fit in nicely on the second pairing. Who Toronto would look to get back would be prospects or picks from what I can tell from this rebuild plan. With that, a bad contract would have to come back to Toronto from any of these teams. - VaderMaul666

who said bernier was awesome or was talking about franson or santo? You seem to have a problem reading or just a lot of voices in your head.
A 1st round pick for a couple bottom half ufa roster players is as good a trade return you can get for franson and santo.
bernier is an average starter. he's probably worth about what we paid, a 2nd, a b-prospect and a backup goalie. Maybe, just maybe, he can get a late first given we took back salary on the acquisition. |

once again twist twist twist...
never said Bernier was elite or high end or pick your term
on the other hand - whether Bernier is an elite goalie or not - neither Edmonton goalie has proven themselves to be.
you don't need to make ridiculous trade suggestions - just makes you look foolish and lacking in knowledge.
again - conversation wasn't about Bernier - it was about what the Oilers apparently need. Bernier might be a fit - suggesting that he has no value is idiotic. |

Kessel for njd 6th overall pick + Gelinas - zazzle
something along those lines might work... although I think the ShanaDubaHunt would want a little more.
...
and at this juncture - some epsilon semi-moron will jump in saying "Kessel's not worth that", "Kessel sucks", "He's a leaf - they are all worthless"....
absolutely amazing what the cumulative effect of drinking cheap alcohol is over the years ... |

Colin, I hate to be an a** but, I'm sorry, you are one of the least enjoyable sports bloggers on this site. Your blog themes rarely change, and you overuse certain grammatical phrases and words like "I digress", "However", "What say you", etc. etc.
You also respond to nearly every person who comments on your thread, which shows that you care too much about what others think. Write from the heart, man, and stop with the reiteration of ideas that have already been beaten to death by both you and other bloggers. Give the reader a fresh perspective and something to think about.
Mike Augello is a phenomenal sports writer who does all of the above. Just some pointers, man. - g55ddl000

For Edmonton's #1 overall I would trade the following:
Toronto's 1st, and 3rd
Nashville's 1st
Gardiner and Grandberg
It's most likely not enough but it's a start. |

I don't think anything makes then trade that pick unless McDavid pulls a Lindros which he won't do. |

TML: 15th overall 2015 pick (from PIT)
EDM: Phaneuf (@5M/Y) + - KarlKarlsson[insert name/pick here]
Thoughts?
No salary retention, if need be the leafs will take on a bad contract but I would be very surprised if they retained salary. |

Yes, you really should view R ielly differently. |

Why would we go for ROR? he is gonna be a pending UFA.
We would be foolish to gamble with players, prospects or picks for a guy that has played hardball twice before.
ROR is gonna want 7+ million. A bit rich for a good 2nd line center/winger |

so apparently leafs fans saying he has more than 0 value = he is awesome?
Your suggestion to trade him for two pending UFA's just makes you look like a clown |

He might take term (7 years) for 5.5-6M.
That's whether we think he could be our #1 C.
With highly talented wingers (i.e. Nylander/Marner), I think we need a RoR to stand up to the top lines around the league. |

we would have to give up a pile of assets to get him, then no guarantee his is even gonna stay here. I dont think the leafs are in a position to be trading for pending UFA's |
