People were calling for a total rebuild. Some thought we were going to miss the playoffs this season. However we got in.
Don't like losing in the first round, but at least we got to the post season. The team isn't built for this type of hockey.
I still want them to win tonight and keep it rolling. and if they lose, make sure they put in a good effort.
All season, looking at trade options and Bennings moves have made me look forward more to off season moves and what kind of team he is building than what has been on the ice in front of me.
I'm looking forward to the change of composition and maybe a new identity for the club... but still want them to win tonight. - hillbillydeluxe
I addressed that comment last night. The team has performed EXACTLY as I envisioned they would last summer - making the playoffs and, probably, exiting in the 1st round. But just because they've reached their objective doesn't mean they should roll over either.
I'm certainly not putting the performances thus far all on WD's shoulders, but some of his decisions defy any rational logic for a coach that is trying to win games. Let's face it, he even had to be overrided by Linden on the Sedins' ice time last game. We're here now and the team in front of us is not an exceptional roster. This series, even for a team that is in transition, was winnable.
I'm not asking for Quenville creativity, but I do hope for at least trying the most logical options first before resorting to giving tweeners like Higgins Sydney Crosby levels of ice-time.
Which is exactly why the Canucks should go balls-to-the-wall to get Kessel & Phaneuf in the off season.

yep.
This feeling of frustration, at least on my part to a certain extent, has been because of raised expectations after seeing the team compete in some good games against top teams in the league. Ignoring their performance against some non playoff teams too.
But anyway, looking at these playoff struggles, I guess there is a good reason we often hear from clubs, when they are eliminated, they will take a few days before making any decisions that will impact the future. Get past the feeling of disappointment, sleep on it and then have a look.
I might be thinking more of Wally Buono and the Lions.

I'm still a tank nation guy. IMO all the goodwill that was generated from a surprisingly good regular season is lost by a poor 1st round performance.
I wanted JB to clean house at the start of this past season and try to get a lottery position in this draft. Now we have a 1st round pick somewhere in the 20 spot and don't pick again until the 4th round.
My goodness, it has only been 4 games and it's not as though he has a lot to work with. I was as disappointed as anyone that he didn't play Sven in game four but hey, it is what it is.

I think that is why he traded for Sven and Clandening. But I am still unsure how fast it will be if these guys don't get an opportunity next season.
There will be some changes this summer... has to be. I know some of the prospects should get some time to develop with Utica, but I am hoping there will be spots with the big club open for competition. Not expecting Richardson or Matthias to return and a dman moved... but don't want to hold my breath either.

Do the Sedin's have a NMC and if not is there any possibility they get moved? That over rated hack Iginla was one of the catalysts for change here. I know they aren't the biggest issue but the return could still be good?!?

The Sedins will retire as Canucks in 3 years and deservedly so. They are not the problem.

Benning will undoubtedly acquire a few more draft picks for some vets. 1st rounders will carry a premium price in this draft but he might be able to accrue some 2nds.

Absolutely not saying they are!
But...if you want to make change happen more quickly. Iginla was the same thing in Calgary, heart and soul guy and once he was gone, poof snowball on allot of other personnel. changes. The Flames waited too long and the return wasn't as strong as it could have. There is debate in Calgary about Gio, especially if the Flames regress next year...
Even if the club wanted to trade them, they would have to take salary back. Difficult to trade 14mil in salary.
Possession numbers and league scoring indicate they are still effective.
The team needs other players to step up. and if nobody else is stepping up, they need to make changes and bring in guys who may. - hillbillydeluxe
I know the twins are not the problem. Advanced stats say they are playing just fine. Can't argue with advance stats .
But, I wonder if bad feelings are created when you have a guy like Dorsett busting his ass trying to be that agitator/physical player the coaching staff want him to be and then you got a twin making picking up sticks and patting opposing players on the bum.

I don't think the optics are great - bloatedmosquito
I don't think it makes even a little bit of difference. Let the Sedins do what they do best, with Dorsett doing what he does.
On a sidenote, I can't think of an act more humiliating then someone trying to play toughguy and, after making no impact, having their gear calmly handed back to them as if to say "try again."
So judging by last games predictions from you folk i'm going to assume you think it's going to be 5-0 Canucks, Sven with a hatty and Miller with the S.O.

8-0, Sven with 2 natural hatties sandwiching goals from Sbisa and Lack

Smartest thing WD has done in the playoffs and it was a no brainer to start Miller. - thundachunk
I don't think so. Don't think goaltending on the whole has been the issue. Scoring is more of a problem and some bad team defence/breakdowns.
What I did find funny was at the start of the season, the talk was the team had more confidence with Miller in goal when Lack was getting the second game of back to backs or playing against a top team. Lack gets going a little bit towards when Miller was injured and then has a good run. The team has no confidence in Markstrom and all this confidence in Lack.... Now they are going back to Miller because there is no confidence in Lack.
Anyway, I am hoping for some changes on the d this summer. Tired of seeing scrambles in front of the net and nobody taking the body, just looking for the puck or a dman or forward playing goalie instead of taking the man.
