I'm still a believer in possession stats, but holy poop last nights game (and this series in general) isn't doing the advanced stats crowd any favors.
Vancouver is 3rd in possession rankings this post-season.
Calgary is 14th.
game 1 was a 50/50 split
game 2 was 57/43 split
game 3 was 52/48 split
game 4 was 63/37 split. Canucks worst game and yet they controlled play almost 2/3rds of 5on5 play.
Like I said this series won't be convincing anyone that possession is a legit stat.
The top 5 possession teams are:
1. Anh - up 3 - 0
2. TB - down 1 - 2
3. VAN - down 1 - 3
4. MTL - up 3 - 0
5. CHI - up 3 - 1 - belcherbd

Legit stat to a point - we're not getting quality shots and for the most part CGY has been content to hammer us while we hold on to it in the corners |

We had more possession in Game 5 because the Sedins played more. Not sure why WD waited until the 3rd period to try Vrbata alongside them but it might have made a difference to the conversation rate.
With the Sedins on the ice at 5-on-5, the Canucks have outshot the Flames by 24. There are no other players in the playoffs with a shot differential as large. |

This taken from canucks.com:
37.3% – Through four games of the 2015 Stanley Cup playoffs the Canucks are having serious issues getting the puck by Flames defenders.
The Flames spend a tonne of time in their own end of the rink, which the numbers suggest is an unsustainable way to win games. Credit the Flames, they survive in part by being extremely disciplined about blocking shots and setting up shop in shooting lanes.
In this series the Flames have blocked 37.3% of all Vancouver shot attempts, an outrageously high number.
With so many pucks hitting one of several layers of Flames defenders, the Canucks haven’t been able to produce any fortunate bounces or goals from the point. |

I'm a little agitated. I couldn't sleep last night, had to get a shot in the shoulder cuz of bursitis, and I haven't eaten. Plus I have to do my taxes.
I'm just ventilating on the Flames. I don't really want the Nux to do that stuff when I'm feeling better. - kaptaan
May its you that needs to pull an old Yeller, not Bieksa |

I think we have plenty to biatch about.
I was hoping to see a few different players with them, just to get them out more and have some different looks. Maybe that was too radical an idea.
Still not sure why they wait until the end of the game to show urgency. By them, I really mean the whole team. |

Yup somewhere Torts has a boner 10 feet tall watching Calgary shot-block themselves to victory after victory.

Sbisa has allowed more goals against this season than Bieksa when they've been split up. Hamhuis played his worst hockey with Sbisa. |

Can you do us all a favor, after the draft can you change your avatar to a good picture of Sbisa.
Thanks

Exactly. The only shots they're getting through are super low percentage. The middle is clogged up and the Flames are keeping us from driving the puck to the net |

Ryan Miller will start in goal for the #Canucks in game five against the #Flames.
Logical. Miller will have to be nothing short of elite for us to stand a change of turning this around. |

Chiarelli as GM with McLellan behind the bench and Lowe out of the picture entirely would be three large steps in the right direction IMO. Doubt they do all of that though. |

The Canucks and the flames were huge rival years ago , how do you loss that ? It can't be just because the flames were bad for a few years , you just don't drop a rival . I'm a ranger fan , the islanders , pens , flyers and devils will alway be rivals no matter if their team or the rangers are good or bad . We fans will always hate the islanders no matter what , they've been irrelevant for 20 years and we still hate them . Same can be said for the other three . - way out west
There weren't good teams in California before who we met in the playoffs.now there are, and more B.C. ers goto California regularly than Alberta nowadays. People are too laid back to get worked up over a team that we haven't really played but once in the playoffs in twenty years before this season.
In New York you share geography, lots of interpersonal and other links. |

I like Steaming Lombardis first post. No Whinning.
I have a hard time when I see coaching is the issue posts. 3 different coaches 3 years same results.
I was happily surprised this year.with the team. I have been happy with the twins leading even in the playoffs.
We have many issues that all lead back to not enough talent . We are being beaten handily by a middle of the road team. We lack in scoring, toughness, desire, and overall talent.
Most insiders had the Flames as the winner of this series, and it was mostly just Canuck fans that thought we had the better team.
An NHL agent said Sbisa contract is a good contract that can easily be moved at TDL for a pick , so Nucker stand back from the ledge. When he is traded he will have a little over 2 years at a good cap hit.
This team does need to be gutted , no one aside from the Twins and Bo gets a get out of jail free card.
If we do gut too far then we will get a lot of top draft picks. There was quite the race this year not only at the top of the league, but the tank for the bottom was just as exciting.
A team like the Leafs this year realized what needed to be done, and they are hoping to part ways even with Kessel and Dion. Canucks should look to clean house also . They would get a good return on about 5 or 6 players. |

Charelli and JB are good friends also and could be open to do business. |
