In that screwy organization it could go either way. |

I like Steaming Lombardis first post. No Whinning.
I have a hard time when I see coaching is the issue posts. 3 different coaches 3 years same results.
I was happily surprised this year.with the team. I have been happy with the twins leading even in the playoffs.
We have many issues that all lead back to not enough talent . We are being beaten handily by a middle of the road team. We lack in scoring, toughness, desire, and overall talent.
Most insiders had the Flames as the winner of this series, and it was mostly just Canuck fans that thought we had the better team.
An NHL agent said Sbisa contract is a good contract that can easily be moved at TDL for a pick , so Nucker stand back from the ledge. When he is traded he will have a little over 2 years at a good cap hit.
This team does need to be gutted , no one aside from the Twins and Bo gets a get out of jail free card.
If we do gut too far then we will get a lot of top draft picks. There was quite the race this year not only at the top of the league, but the tank for the bottom was just as exciting.
A team like the Leafs this year realized what needed to be done, and they are hoping to part ways even with Kessel and Dion. Canucks should look to clean house also . They would get a good return on about 5 or 6 players. - VANTEL
The Aquillinis won't allow a full rebuild in this market. They've seen what even a retool has done to ticket sales. If we become a bottom feeder for several seasons in a row either the ticket prices will drop off a cliff or our arena will resemble Arizona's. |

If you had the chance to go see Higgins , Matthias , Stanton Bieksa next year would you pay?
If you had a chance to go see MCann Virtanen Sven and Pedan would you pay? |

I want to start off by saying that I still think we can come back. The Canucks just have to take it 1 game at a time. If they win tomorrow, and in Calgary on Sat, they will undoubtedly be in Calgary's head for game 7. Even if they make it to round two though, the team is in need for some change.
I believe we have the pieces in order for us to become better, but Benning's lack of willingness to trade players like Higgins, Bieksa, Matthias, and even Burrows is holding us back.
It's time to trade all of our non-playoff performers and bring in the 2011 draft class. Jensen, Grenier, and Corrado are ready. And even if they aren't totally there yet, I bet 82 games would change that.
They might be 25-30 point guys, but they have the "tools" we are missing.
Jensen: Fast, skilled, NHL-caliber shot.
Grenier: 6'5" right handed winger, hands in close, nose for the net.
Corrado: Solid defensively, right handed, decent first pass, CAN SCORE.
If they find a way to integrate these guys into the lineup and trade 3 of the guys mentioned above, we will have some free cap space to go and sign someone (Mike Green).
I'm not a manager, but I am a season ticket holder. This is what I want to see, and I bet there are others that share the sentiment. |

Nice rational post Vantel. I do think Sbisa's contract isn't good value, but it also definitely isn't worth dropping the team over. I don't think we will see too much change this summer |

Sbisa has allowed more goals against this season than Bieksa when they've been split up. Hamhuis played his worst hockey with Sbisa. - Nucker101
Let's face it, in the grand scheme of things, Sbisa ia a liability. Yes, he can throw out some big hits, but which usually put him out of the play, creating an opportunity against. Not sure what the answer is - but I can tell you, it certainly wasn't giving him all that money to resign him |

I'm not holding my breath for Jensen as an NHL regular. Guys have passed him on the call up line. He just doesn't have the mental game for an NHL regular. I seriously doubt he finds it any time soon, would be glad to be proved wrong though. Just think he will head to Europe and play within the next few years.

Edmonton has had a chance to see much more hyped youngsters than what we have in the pipeline and the viewing has been painful.
Highly prized losers don't sell tickets in this market. Only a winning team does. |

It's all a moot point because it's not about what we want to see but about what is probably going to happen. For better or worse we don't make the decisions |

Edmonton has been sold out for years , even though they stunk. With a blink of an eye they wil be one of the most exciting teams, and watched team in the league.
Now names like Charelli and McClelland are excited to be working with the Oilers. Same as Veterans like Hamhuis or Edler may welcome a trade there. |

You do realize we have a completely different fan base than Edmonton, right?
You can only financially support a decade-long stinkathon when you have a rabid fanbase. Most franchises in the league would face financial ruin or relocation if they tried something similar. Our fans, at least where their money is concerned, are much more discerning. |

He's 23 years old still and has proved in a limited role that he can play at the NHL level.
Sometimes you just have to BOlieve. Playing a full season might help the coaching staff understand what his role will be going forward.
I'd rather see him on the third line left side than McMillan, Matthias, or whatever plug we can slide in there. |

If we lose our fan base big deal. They sit on their hands at games and shush you when you cheer. I could care less if they left.
Have you ever seen an insane fan base like the Flames or Jets this week. We have to go back to the Roger Neilson white towel days. I say good riddance . |

Any predictions on what the d core will look like next season?
The NTC's make it difficult to figure out. I think Bieksa needs a change in scenery but might be too blind to see the need.
Will Clandening and/or Corrado be a regular next season?
Will McCann get the 4th line centre position and be brought along similar to Horvat?
Can anyone see Sven on the second line and Higgins moved to the 3rd?
Sedins Burrows
Sven Bonino Vrbata
Higgins Horvat Hansen
_____ McCann Dorsett (would like to see more size and grit, maybe thru fa or trade)
Too much change? Might just be a crazy summer. |

I would also trade Hammer for a first round pick this year, and I really do like Hamhuis. I do believe he can be packaged to Edm |

I was at game 2 and can quite honestly say the fans were insane, I wasnt at game 1 so I can't comment but it looked like the fans were just as loud and involved.
Obviously jets and flames fans are excited about playoffs but a lot of that has to do with them being there for the first time in a while. Had the nucks of won game 3 I doubt the saddledome would of been as loud.
Win and the croud cheers, lose and they are quiet. It is the same everywhere. |

If Bo is ready to play 2nd line next year then that's what I'd like to see. Bonino is better suited as a 3rd liner. Also think Kenins is still a good option as 4LW |

I can see one of them being moved, both moved may be too far fetched. Maybe Benning will try to move one or both, they decline and he ends up trading Sbisa....
Scratch Bieksa for next game and dress Corrado or Biega and maybe he'll waive.
It is a tight rope Benning has to walk, retooling and still making playoffs. |
