There's some really awesome deals to be had by gambling a bit it seems. Sometimes you win sometimes you don't but if you do it looks (frank)ing awesome.
Roman Josi put up 55 points this year making 3 million. They have him locked up til 2020 with an AAV of $4m

The player I wanted last FA was Engelland. I thought he was exactly what this team needed. Same at TDL I wanted. Despres. We need a big tough guy.

I'm sick and tired of seeing opposing teams take liberties in front of our net. I thought Sbisa was going to be the guy who keeps the crease clear but I've been disappointed. I'd be all for picking up a big, mean d-man to throw out there on the PK

ANA has had the lead in this series for 11 minutes

ANA is up 3-0

I love how guys like Bieksa#3 and Nucker had the Canucks not good enough to make the playoffs this season and then act like they have been betrayed because the Canucks are facing elimination in round 1.

This team wasnt built for the playoffs. They didnt go and trade for rentals like so many wanted. We still have the losers like Bieksa and Burrows who become unraveled and uncontrolable in the playoffs every time. WTF do you guys expect?

Bieksa#3 poopting all over a rookie coach and GM in their first years after they achieved more than he gave them credit for... seriously... just fkn say it B3... you are still pissed that AV was fired, you are still pissed Gillis was fired and you are still pissed your favorite player kesler is gone. Your other favorite player Bieksa is having quite a series though... oh, the coach is making Bieksa suck... thats right....

At least I gave Nonis, Gillis and AV a couple/few years before I poop on them... and AV had plenty of experience before coming here.

I think it's difficult because I know I was optimistic by year's end despite my low expectations for the season. It just seemed like even if they lost in the first round this team wouldn't just roll over. Hence the disappointment

I'm still a believer in possession stats, but holy poop last nights game (and this series in general) isn't doing the advanced stats crowd any favors.

Vancouver is 3rd in possession rankings this post-season.
Calgary is 14th.

game 1 was a 50/50 split
game 2 was 57/43 split
game 3 was 52/48 split
game 4 was 63/37 split. Canucks worst game and yet they controlled play almost 2/3rds of 5on5 play.

Like I said this series won't be convincing anyone that possession is a legit stat.

The top 5 possession teams are:
1. Anh - up 3 - 0
2. TB - down 1 - 2
3. VAN - down 1 - 3
4. MTL - up 3 - 0
5. CHI - up 3 - 1

- belcherbd

I hate advanced stats and yet I have full confidence in those numbers. It's not that the team is playing bad or is being over powered, it's simply that we drop one of three periods every game.

Even with the lack of scoring, if the special teams and fire drills were under control this series would be different. Not saying that we would have more wins but games 1, 3 and 4 would have certainly warranted OT at the very least.

Yeah I agreed with you. Ironic that he's now our opponent giving us fits.

Unlike Gillis, I do trust that Benning will be seeing the same thing as we do. CGY are not a team you'd think of as physical yet they look it against us.

NYI have a line with Clutterbuck and Martin that is pretty much built to hit. I wouldn't mind having a line similarly dedicated to hitting and shutting down the opposition. No sense in rolling 4 scoring lines when only one of them can really score.

Ducks just scored another sick goal. Perry just deeked the crap out of Buff to assist to Cogliano.

Every playoff year going all the way back to 2009 against the Hawks had the Canucks getting eliminated pretty much in similar fashion. The usual suspects losing focus after calls don't go their way and the opposition gets under their skin. Goals nowhere to be found.

Why are people so freaked out our rookie coach is getting out coached by a very experienced Bob Hartley? Did we hire a coach to take us deep in the playoffs? NO. Did we trade away young assets for playoff depth? NO. Do we still have some of the rotten culture that does this in the playoffs? YES.

We all pretty much agreed it would take time... yet look how many have decided time is up before WD and JB finish their first year here.... seriously guys. Think it over. Are we phasing out the old for the new? Yes and we only just started. People need to decide what they want and stop female doging about not getting what they didnt want.

Yep.

Thought they would be a playoff bubble team and just get in. But once you are in anything can happen. The team had some good games in March, competed hard and some of those games were more like playoff games than a couple of their losses in this series.

losing is a little easier when they go down swinging... they need to swing more.

I can't speak for everyone but my pre-season expectation for this team was making the playoffs and losing in the 1st round. When I saw the match-up against Calgary I thought it a 50/50 chance we could even make the 2nd round. So per my expectations it's pretty much bang on.

In saying that there is a difference between expecting your team to reach a target and then watching them watching them lose - getting physically upended by a non-physical team and losing to a good but not great opponent.

I can feel for many posters on here because it's a crappy feeling seeing your team go down. Even if I didn't expect more, that doesn't make the feeling any better. If you don't invest your emotion in your team it's probably best you stop watching entirely as there are much better ways to spend your time. If you do watch, you cheer.

Good points. I can't speak for anyone else but I'm still happy to have both WD and JB. I like many of JB's moves and WD's success in the regular season this year is promising
