Hasn't been having a great offensive season so I don't think we'll be seeing him next year
- bezz44

Which prospect or prospects do you think make the jump to the nhl next year? ( anyone can answer)

He has been very streaky, I actually don't think his scoring or lack of it will be a factor in him playing next season.

I think he will need to convince WD that he can play both ends of the ice. With Matthias likely moving on, there definitely is a spot available.

That's one reason why I suggested he won't be here. Without insane offensive production to justify him being here I don't think WD would overlook his defensive play which I'm sure is not on the same level as Bo's

It is not Bennett the 18 year old, it is "Sam Bennett the 18 year old rookie sensation".

I think if it is a scoring winger it will have to be someone who has been around a while like Jensen (who has a decent 2-way game from what I've seen) or Sven. Otherwise we are looking at someone responsible like Gaunce coming in to play on the 4th line. Hoping we see some shuffling of the defensive deck chairs and Corrado seems to be at the top of the pecking order for D prospects

Wait, 18 year old Sam Bennett is 18 years old? I thought he just had a fcked up name.

From a few reports I've read and from the Utica games I've watched, he looks to be finally over that hip and getting his timing down. Was always a step behind the play to start the year. Started playing better and getting chances and now seems to be capitalizing on those chances. Would be a great addition if he can continue this pace. Guy always seems to be enjoying himself like no other on the ice.

Totally agree. I saw him play a few times in the Dub before the Canucks drafted him and was very excited when Gillis drafted him with a late first round pick. He'll also get a normal off-season of training this summer instead if having to rehab his hip as well so I'm really excited to see him in camp next year!

I remember how excited I was that he fell to us. That year I'd seen a lot of speculation that the Devils would take him 9th OA so when we got their pick and ended up with Horvat and Shinkaruk I was stoked

I always get a kick out of these myself. Cole Cassels is getting a lot of love right now as a "sleeper" to make the team next year like Corrado did a few years back but realistically he's going to need a year in the AHL to develop.

If Sven counts he's my bet. Otherwise I like Shinkaruk to potentially impress during camp and earn a call-up during the season.

On defense, I believe Corrado will be the most NHL-ready out of the bunch next year.

I'll be honest here, when the Canucks were on the clock with that pick I wanted them to draft Valeri Nichushkin. Wasn't disappointed with Bo though.

With the late first I was definitely all-in on Shinkaruk though.

I'm just glad all of our prospects are still playing hockey in april.

You can never have enough experience.

Sault st should probably win the memorial cup
Oshawa is still trucking along
Calgary Hitmen start tonight.
Utica is back at it tonight.

Totally agree. It's great for their development. I'm glad Benning believes in having a successful AHL team(mixed with youth and veteran leadership), things like that make a big difference.

I think Gaunce, Corrado, Baertchi and Kennins make the team to start the season. Shink will earn a call up at some point.

Weber, Matthias, Richardson gone and one of Hansen/Higgins gets moved.

I did too. Just seemed like the no-brainer pick. Very happy with Horvat now though obviously

The thing I like about Weber is he could get a high return. He had 11 goals . Fans from the East see him run the goalie in the playoffs , so they might think he plays with a bit of an edge too.

Kevin Lowe out of Hockey Opps. Canucks are thinking about hiring him as head of the 5 hot dog assembly line at the Rog.
