Those asking for Therrien's head...well, though luck. Just got extended, and a 110 points season.

Doesn't count for much in professional sports.

But no, likely won't be fired even if they blunder the series. Though you'd hope Bergevin would have to think about it if it were to happen and other better options made it known they'd like to coach here.

I'm not asking for his head. Although I'd be happy to see it chopped.

He isn't the reason the team has been flat for the last two games.

Just a 7 game playoff series that will have ups and downs. The reason this team wins or loses falls on the roster. Which is put in place by Bergevin.

So I will try my best to enjoy what we have with this team, and my expectations for next year are high.

leading 3-2 in the first round and already talking about next year....

c'est incroyable.

was anyone expecting the series to be a cakewalk? I mean aside from when the habs were and everyone was planning the parade.

No, I didn't. I was expecting the Habs to win it in 6. But, the way it's going right now is really not reassuring. When a Flynn-Mitchell-Prust line is the one that spends the most time in the offensive zone, you're in trouble.

Unlike you, I use more than the last ten seconds of life as a cursor in my compass.

Short term memory must help when being a Leaf fan though.

I have followed the Habs through darkness, and through both the previous (past, as in not the last 5 games) and current stints of Therrien as coach. I am drawing from a very deep understanding of not just how the team has played but also how they can play (future/hypothetical/alternate reality).

Keep living the now storm. There will one day be clear skies...

- blarneylad

First off Blarney. I'm not sure what being a leaf fan has to do with anything. Price is unreal. Now look at the rest of the roster. Do you really think another coach get a lot more out of it? Ride who? Patches? Ok but without a number one center? Maybe Gally? He's not ready to be a 70 point guy. So who?

Anyone who thinks Therrien hasn't got the most out of this team is delusional. That includes you.

But by all means keep throwing the leaf thing in there in order to make your point.

Lots of individualism tonight.

Sens are in some kitchens.

If MT can do the dishes, they'll be fine.

Stormey, I am shocked at the astute analysis you have of the habs and their roster.

I don't see Therrien as the issue here. I'm pretty confident that he's not telling his players to make sure that they don't trouble Craig Anderson by getting in his way and not letting him see the puck. He can't will his players to the net. If they don't want to go, which is clearly the case right now, what can he do?

Those criticizing Therrien here... Montreal had the puck the entire night. They just played soft as dog poop in both ends.

They may have had the puck the entire night but I found that they were passive on the attack and were back on their heels in the defensive zone. Last night was a perfect copy of a Sens-Habs game from the last couple of seasons. Sure, a few bounces earlier on and the game is different but in order to get bounces, you have to earn them.

I don't recall too many people picking the habs in 4 or 5 so why are we shocked that it is going 6? All season long, people were ready to write them off after a poor performance or a couple of losses and they have always bounced back. The habs are not losing this series.

I agree completely but my point is that it's not Therrien telling them to play passive, stay on the perimeter and make sure you stay out of the goalie's way. A coach's influence only goes so far. Those upset with Therrien should be more upset with Bergevin, if anyone.

Generally, this going to 6 surprises no one but I think what's troubling everyone is how the Habs have played the last 2 games. Last night was a blowout and game 4 could have been if not for Price.

Only way Montreal wins this series is if Price flat out steals one of the last two. The offence just isn't coming.

And with the slim UFA crop and the cap going down or at best, staying the same, help is going to have to come from within or by trade.

I agree though that Bergevin's job is to provide Therrien with the necessary horses and he only provided his coach with bottom 6 players. It is what it is.
